Can you book Moonlight Magic while staying on another DVC members points?

This will be our first time staying on another members points while the DVC event is going on. We are DVC members of course but our upcoming stay is on a friends rented points. Will we have any issue when it is time to book since it is not OUR points? Will we still get the email with the link? I was just wondering if anyone has done this and if it was a problem! Thanks!!

You probably won't get an email and booking might be a headache, but ultimately you should be able to do it.

All that is required is that a) you are a (qualified) a DVC member, and b) you have an on-site reservation. Any on-site reservation should do, regardless of how it is booked, and others have reported success in doing this. But their online reservation system only recognizes regular point stays (presumably on your own points), so you'll likely have to call. Try the online link first though; if it does work it'll save you some time. If you don't get the email, you can find the link on the DVC member website under the relevant Moonlight Magic event page.

I'm on hold now for the AK event. I have an RCI exchange reservation at a DVC resort, but the online reservation system is throwing an error ("Either your Member ID Number or Resort Confirmation Number does not match our records."). Others are reporting the same.

Expect to hold for regular member services and then hold another 45 - 60 minutes for tech support. I am currently 1hr 20 minutes into my call. At least the hold music is peppy.

A friend of mine is at the world right now on points that I transferred to her and she was able to enjoy the MK moonlight magic earlier this week no problem.
I don't know if it made a difference that the points were transferred.

You should be able to book it, but not everyone gets the email. I never got mine, and I'm booked on my own points and bought direct a decade ago.
But I used the link that was shared here and only got one error message before my reservation went through.
Oh can also get to the link by signing into your dvc account and going to Planning a vacation: events calendar and clicking on the date and event you're interested in.
