Can you believe the nerve of this person??
We are having a yard sale tomorrow - we put an ad in the paper today and tomorrow - no phone number, just address

We have someone on the phone right now - 4 minutes until 10pm - grilling us with questions on what will be in the sale.

They did say they would be by tomorrow to look

What the......

And you can bet they'll be there a half-hour before you open!

Just did a yard sale today.....NOBODY wants to pay more than 2.00 for anything!! I have like new kids clothes with no more than 5.00 on them and everyone asks for less. Drove me crazy!

Thats why I prefer to sell on ebay, I make much more on there than at a garage sale with people chewing me down from 75 cents to 50 cents, that makes me nuts!

That is why I refuse to have a yard sale -- I'll give it away for free. I once had an expensive Seiko watch I got form an old boyfriend and didn't want anymore on sale for $10. The woman wore it around my yard for 10 min. to see if it would tell time. Finally she said I'll give you $5, I said nope that watch cost over $100 for sure. My 10 year old neighbor asked if she could have it. I said sure honey. The woman said you mean you will give it aways rather than give it to me for $5. I said yes that is correct. I said at this point I won't sell it to you even for the $10, take it off, give it to the little girl.

I'm having a yard sale tommorrow too! My best friend called me this morning and said she is having one, so I have been going through stuff all day trying to add to it. (she wanted to have a multi family one).

LOL! It has to be someone that knows you. Did they leave their number so you can do a wake up call for them so they can be the first ones at the yardsale?:teeth:

so, they looked up your address in the city directory and called you?

That is unbelievable!

I'm having a sale in 2 weeks. I don't like having sales, but I have so much big stuff I don't want to have to haul somewhere.

Usually, I just give stuff away to Good will or church.

We need an update o nthese strange people tomorrow.

herc.

Next time (and hopefully we'll sell everything and there won't be a "next time" for a long time) we'll rewrite the newspaper ad to include "no calls pls". Sheesh. I mean, what if we were already in bed? (which is where I plan on being in about 15 minutes).

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't think of calling if the number wasn't in the paper.

I mean, it wasn't even like he was asking about one thing in particular. He was all over the map -- the washer/dryer, appliances, videos or DVDs, any cameras, bikes.

Okay, off to bed ... we'll let y'all know how things go tomorrow. :)

Wow definetely sounds like a case of severe yard sale-itis:eek: I once had someone knocking on my door the day before rattling off a list of exactly what they were looking for, dooney and bourke handbags, guns etc. Huh. You will probably run into lots of strange people during your sale too. Once I told someone goodbye, yes you, leave. I was tired of them trying to bargain with me in a different language. They came back and went through the stuff I threw out. I watched them from the window. They took a broken high chair. I guess they didnt understand. Poor baby. I hope you have lots of success and give us an update when its over. :D

my last one I had people show up just a few hours after I left the newspaper office. I had told no one about my sale, so they had to get the information from the newspaper office. I was doing a bag sale and had nothing ready, and they got mad at me because I wouldn't let them shop 2 days early....

We are having a big yard sale tomorrow too. We had a preview for the neighborhood only tonight and I sold $74 just to neighbors! WoooHoooo!!! I hope tomorrow brings the same success!! Good luck at yours guys!

If a woman comes and says "Oh, I'm the one you talked to" - Jack the prices up! ;)

I once had a Yard Sale advertised (note YARD), no garage, no tent. I woke up to POURING rain and cold temps. Went back to bed. Who is going to put furniture and baby items and clothes out in the rain, right? Lo and behold, someone starts knocking on my door wanting to know why I'm not having the sale. Then they want to see the stuff! From then on I advertised "Weather Permitting", duh!

Last year when we were having a huge garage sale people would stop by our house when they saw us in the garage setting stuff up 2 days before the sale. We didn't even have everything labled yet. Oh well.....it takes all kinds:( :)

I had a yard sale last year. NEVER AGAIN!!!! We made almost 400.00, but with all the aggrevation, to me, it wasn't worth it. I sell the good stuff on ebay and the rest goes to Goodwill.

Wowzers -- a yard sale "stalker." Sorry about that ML. Best of luck on your sale. Hope you make lots of $$!

It's 5:15 a.m. and I'm getting ready to go out and put up signs. We've had people stop by (not this time) up to 3 days before the sale to see if we'd sell stuff early. Usually they're dealers.

I almost always get the price I'm asking but I can be tough. :p I did a summer's worth of flea markets a few years ago and it taught me a lot about not letting people hack the price of my items.

I heard a story about a guy who was so upset about a person who wanted an item for nearly free that he broke it rather than sell it to them!

Off I go to do my signs. The weather is going to hopefully stay good until later in the day. Nothing worse than dragging stuff in early because of rain.

Good luck to everyone having a sale today! :teeth:
