<p>Another proud moment/evening for us here about 2 weeks ago. As many of
you know (probably to boredom, LOL), Vince has been focused on his
fire-fighter's career for a number of years now. I have posted a number of
pictures here in the past of Vince at his fire house, parades, etc. That
department has always been a part time position, smaller town. Even though he
has been a
full fire-fighter/paramedic, it has not been full time. Over the years, he
has been pursuing a full time spot with a larger department. A
fire-fighter opening is super hard to come by. Well, one of the nearby
towns is in the process of opening a 3rd firehouse and has added on new
firefighters, Vince among them. About 2 weeks ago, the village had the
swearing in ceremony for 6 new firefighter/pm's and promoted several current
ones to lieutenants. There was a short cake and coffee before the swearing
in, at the main fire house, and then over to the village hall for the ceremony,
held prior to the regular village meeting. It was a nice evening, one
Vince has been pursuing, without giving up, since late '97, and a proud moment
for him, us and his girlfriend of the past 4 years, Mary Jo.</p>

<p>The nice cake that greeted everyone at the reception.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/2.jpg"></p>
<p>The New York Fire Department, Engine Co. 55, had visited the firehouse not
that long ago. Must have been wonderful to meet them.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/5.jpg"></p>
<p>They gave the village a large patch, commemorating the fallen firefighters,
police and Port Authority personnel, lost on 9/11.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/3.jpg"></p>
<p>One of the big rigs, on display for the evening.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/4.jpg"></p>
<p>Vince, here with both his shift commander, on the left, from his part time
department he was leaving and, on the right, his preceptor, who both encouraged
Vince to become a paramedic, and 'walked' with him through that year of his
studies for same. He is a big part of Vince's success,
encouragement.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/6.jpg"></p>
<p>Another, on the firehouse tarmac.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/7.jpg"></p>
<p>Now, a short drive over to the Village Hall for the swearing in. This
is a picture taken from in the Village Hall meeting room proper, looking out,
through a window, to the lobby area. It was most amazing, this
'brotherhood' these firefighters have. You can see but a small part of
what must have been upwards of another hundred firefighters, from both this
village and surrounding ones, all here to support, celebrate. It really is
something to see.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/8.jpg"></p>
<p>Now, in the Hall, the swearing in of the new six firefighters, Vince closest
to camera.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/9.jpg"></p>
<p>I think he sees me.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/10.jpg"></p>
<p>Mary Jo, pinning his new badge on his uniform. A nice moment, for both
of them, for sure.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/11.jpg"></p>
<p>And, a kiss.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/14.jpg"></p>
<p>A proud young man.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/12.jpg"></p>
<p>Here, again with his preceptor and shift commander, the commander's son, in
rear, also a firefighter, and on the left, another firefighter buddy of
Vince's. Brotherhood.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/13.jpg"></p>
<p>A proud young man, and a proud mom and dad.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.dmurphydis2.com/Vince_FF/15.jpg"></p>
<p>And, a very proud couple.</p><p>Thanks for sharing a nice evening with us.</p>
