I couldn't agree more. For college football, I particularly dislike the casual 'fans' that do not watch or follow a program, yet are among the loudest to call for a coaches head after a poor game or for the 2nd string quarterback to replace the starter. I find that these are usually pro football fans that have little to no understanding of the college game.

Yes, but it does strain the relationship. The area I grew up in exposed me to teams that I still consider my favorites, though some teams’ games were rarely showed where I lived later on. Just some of the “more important “ games were broadcast nationally. So I was still a fan, but not a real good one I guess.

I've been a big fan of american sports for years (mainly through watching sports movies in the UK as a kid) and have a few teams I support even though I am likely to never see them play in person and the game times are always on in the early AM here in the UK.

When I visit Orlando I like to pick up some of the teams merch I can't get at home too

I really only watch the Bruins during the playoffs, when they make it. I can somehow never keep straight when hockey games are during the regular season, plus hockey season overlaps the normal network tv season.

I'll say yes because I am now one of the nation's biggest Toronto Raptors fans, and never, ever watched a single game until this spring.

I'm guessing you won't be on the Raptors bandwagon for long. I'm a Danny Green fan, so I was pulling for the Raptors in the playoffs. They're going to be a very different team next season.

When it comes to the NBA, I've become worse than a bandwagoner, since Michael Jordan retired. I pull for any team that has a Tar Heel player. I don't really pull for any team in particular.

@scrhsa, I haven't lived in North Carolina for 25 years. I still fly my Tar Heel flag at home. We go to the games every time the Heels come to Florida & wear our UNC gear. We spent 17 years in Tampa & are Rays fans. We now live in the Miami area & go to the Marlins games, when they Rays come to town. We wear our Rays tees. We've been Dolphins fans, since the Dan Marino days. When we lived in Tampa, we wore our Dolphin gear to the Dolphins/Bucs games. We've always been those fans. People are used to it. We went to the Dolphins/Ravens game Sunday & there were more Ravens jerseys than Dolphins jerseys. That's just the way it is in sports. People in Virginia & Florida have been okay with our UNC allegiance. People weren't as forgiving, when we lived in Raleigh. You'll be okay, as long as you aren't representing the opposing Texas team.

I do the same thing in the NFL, if they're not playing the Dolphins. If they are, I pull for the player, but want the Dolphins to win. When DH & I met, NC didn't have an NFL team. Both of us had chosen the Dolphins as our team, because we were Dan Marino fans. That was the only team we agreed on, so we stuck with them. This year is going to be a challenge for Dolphins fan, so "Go Heels" in the rest of the NFL.

Honestly I’d default to being a Rays fan if I attended one of their games as I usually just support whatever team is closest to me in Orlando.

Jump on the bandwagon. The Rays are the most fun team in baseball. (Okay, I may be a bit biased. ) They're a low budget team, with young players having fun & giving it everything they have to win. Somehow, they manage to compete for the playoffs, with a lineup getting paid a fraction of what most teams pay.

Curling actually seems like one of those "sports" where it might be fun if you're actually playing but watching it is should be a punishment reserved for prisoners.
