Was wondering if you cancelled a booking over 31 days out the dvc book then says that they revert to there use year can you then bank them to the next use year or do you still have to use them in that use year as the special rates that they are showing for AKL look very appetizing

It depends on your use year/banking deadlines.

For example, if your use year is March and you canceled a July trip 31 (or more) days in advance of arrival, you could bank the points because with a March use year, you have until the end of August to bank up to 100% of your points.

If your use year was say, October, and you cancelled that same trip, you could have a problem. With an October use year, your 100% banking deadline is the end of March, your 50% deadline is the end of June and your 25% deadline is the end of July. No banking is allowed in August or September.

If you cancel before 31 days out, the points are returned in their original, unblemished condition.

Your normal banking deadlines apply.

It would be as if you never made the reservation. If you are past or somewhere in the middle of the banking deadlines, it would be as if you fell asleep, woke up and had that number of unblemished points on that date. Normal banking deadlines apply.

If you borrowed points for the reservation, they have to be used before the end of your use year, you can't bank borrowed points. You also cannot rebank banked points, they would have to be used by the end of your use year.

thanks for the info but this now gets complicated we want to cancel today as today is 31 days out and memberservices is closed. monday we can cancel by phone so 2 nights that we cannot cancel today and tommorow these points go into a holding account have contacted my vacation guide she advised me to e mail them today and cancel today with the email as it is not my fault that they are closed and confirm on monday by phone.So the worst case senario is that 16 points go into a holding account but we have made reservations for december and the 1st night is for 16 points so cancell that night and rebook with holding acount points.O and by the way we have gone and booked 3 nights at AKL for may hpe that member services sort me out

I would call the front desk of the resort you are staying at tonight and have them note it.

Remember that holding account points can only be booked 60 days before. So for December, you could not make a reservation with them until October. They may be booked up by then.

Called today and canceled and points went back into there use year thanks for the help and advice PaulH
