Can you arrive early for a PS?

Here's why I ask:

On December 18th we have a Sleigh Ride at the WL scheduled for 5:30p. It is supposed to return at 6:00pm. So we made PS for Whispering Canyon Cafe for 6:40pm just to be safe.

Now I have second guessing that we will be sitting there waiting for forty minutes. But I don't want to change the time in case something happens with the Sleigh Ride and it gets back later. Can we show up early? The worst that can happen is that we sit there and wait for forty minutes.

As a sidebar: Do you think we will have enough time to eat so that we can make it to the 9:00pm SpectroMagic Parade at MK?

Yes, you can show up early and if a table is available most WDW restaurants will seat you as soon as possible. As you say, the worst that can happen is you'll have to wait.

I think it makes so much sense as it moves the tables along for people who may be running late as well as for walk ups.

SciFi apparently will not seat people early though.

I have gone to my PS early and gotten in early: I have also gone on time and had to wait 30 minutes. Getting seated depends entirely on the crowd at the time
You will have lots of time to get to the 9pm SpectroMagic. Take the boat over to the park entrance.

Hi Suzanne !

Whispering Canyon is VERY popular, so your chances of getting seated early there may be a bit slim.I'm not saying it won't happen, but you may not want to count on it.Oh, and sometimes even the line to check in for your PS can be 5-10 minutes long
On the bright side,WL is so beautiful ! You can easily find something to occupy yourself for 40 minutes.Take a stroll thru the pool area,visit the gift shop, or simply sit in the massive lobby and people watch

You should have more than enough time to get back to MK for Spectro. Usually getting there 45 minutes or so early gives you ample time to find a great viewing spot.
Plus, if the 9pm show that night is the second show, it should be alot less crowded than the 8pm show.

My understanding is that the sleigh ride will be completely over in 30 minutes because someone else will be going on the sleigh ride from 6:00 - 6:30 right after you. I believe you will be done at 6:00. I'd recommend trying to move up the time on your PS. But if you can't, I'd imagine you could have an enjoyable time in the WL lobby as it should be beautifully decorated for XMAS. We're have a late XMAS lunch at WCC and then doing the sleigh ride at 5:30 on XMAS!

We've been early to so many PSs it's hard to count. DH keeps forgetting what time our PS is. One time he thought our PS to CRT was at 12pm - Well, turns out our PS was actually at 12:50pm. LOL. They still let us in, and what's perfect is that that was the day we got to see Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty in the waiting room!
