I have an upcoming cruise that is all paid for. I also happen to have about $200 sitting in my Disney Vacation Account. Can I apply that balance to my upcoming cruise purely as OBC?

Thanks.

I am not sure if Guest Services on board will take your DVA account number as payment. If they don't, they do still take Disney Gift Cards, so you could always convert the $200 in your DVA into a GC and use that onboard to help pay off your folio.

Thanks. I just wondered if my TA could simply apply it as a credit to my folio.

Yes, your TA can call and provide your DVA number to DCL to apply onboard credits. If you'd prefer your TA not have your DVC number, you can call 800-511-9333 and do it yourself.

Even though I had a TA I was able to call DCL directly and transfwr funds from my Vacation account to my Onboard Account. Felt it was then using my TA as a middle man.

According to the DVA site, you are NOT suppose to provide you DVA account number to third parties. I have always done it myself.

From the DVA FAQs:

Can I use my Disney Vacation Account to make a payment on a reservation booked through my travel agent?
Yes, you can use your Disney Vacation Account to make a payment on a reservation booked directly with Disney through participating travel agents. Ask your travel agency whether your booking will be eligible to be paid for with Disney Vacation Account before making your reservation. However, only you may make a payment with your Disney Vacation Account (please refer to the following question for payment instructions).

I am confused. Since the payment eventually goes to DCL, what would make a reservation not eligible for DVA??

I have no idea why you would not be able to use DVA. The point I was making was that the person that owns the DVA account is supposed t make all payments using the DVA directly to DCL, and not have your TA make the payments. DCL will send notifications of payment to the TA. I have always sent my own email to my TA as well.

There are a few TA's (not most) who have you pay them directly, and then they pay the vendor (Disney or whatever other vacation plans made through them). I believe these are often touted as "agency exclusive" offers, and essentially the TA has pre-booked rooms or packages and then re-sells them to clients. This type of booking would not be eligible for the DVA because the payment is not made direct to DCL (or WDW) but to the travel agency.

Most TA's book specifically for your request and while the TA "owns" the reservation and payments are typically made through the TA, it's a direct pass-through to the vendor. Disney Vacation Account can be used for these bookings but because you are essentially giving out a savings account number, they have a system in place for you to call the number specified by the DVA to make payment rather than giving your account number to a third party.

Enjoy your cruise!

I filled out the order form located on the DCL website. It's the same form used to purchase wine/beer, spa, etc. I just put in my DVA account number as I would a gift card number. It was added to my OBC with no problem. My reservation was controlled by a travel agent, but I still had the ability to add the OBC.
