Can you “reclaim” points that were pulled ahead?

Our Welcome Home trip is set to be February, and we were going with friends. They may be unable to go and we are questioning going forward also. We have four days left before we hit our 31 day red line of points going into holding.

These are 2021 points (September UY) we got when we signed up.

Here is the tricky part, I think. We have a trip booked for November, and it’s a long one in a 2 bedroom. It took the 50 remaining points we had from 2021, all of our 2022 points, and we pulled ahead 89 points from 2023.

If we cancel our Feb trip, we will get 150 2021 points back. Can Member Services rework our November trip so it uses all of our 2021 points, 89 of our 2022, and our 2023 go back to full/unused? I am worried that by pulling ahead points they may not be able to, but also think I have seen that if we cancel a trip the points go back.

Anyway, I hope that is clear enough as to what we intend. We don’t want to cancel our Feb trip, but I won’t be sad to get all of our 2023 points back so we can have a great trip in 2023.

You could bank the 2021 points into 2022, then use those to free up some 2022 points and then bank those. You wouldn't be able to unborrow unless they made an exception since you are new.

Yeah, I guess the alternative is to use fewer 2022 points, we would get 150 of those back if they let us use the 2021 points against the trip instead. That wouldn’t break the banking/borrowing being permanent rule And still give us points for 2023 as you noted.

The way it would work is that you can bank your 2021 points into 2022.

Then modify the November 2022 trip without changing a thing and the system will reallocate the points to use all banked 2021 points, and the borrowed 2023 points and then free up 2022 points

As long as the number of banked 2021 points, and 89 borrowed 2023 points is more than the cost of the 2 bedroom, they will get used up first!

Ohhhh, so I can just do all of this online, without playing the hold game to MS? Assuming I understood you correctly saying modify the trip. That would be fantastic!

You sure can! Once you have things canceled, then bank the 2021 points. After that is is easy to modify the trip. You just don’t change a thing and follow through and rebook it,

Be aware that there a screen right before booking that can be confusing and seem like it won’t pull the banked and borrowed points, but it will once you confirm it again.

There will then be the points summary..which you can view to show you what it took!
