Can WP&M be changed to park hoppers?

Probably a stupid question but my daughter had to have an unexpected surgery 2 weeks ago so right now we are 2 weeks away from disney, we currently have 5 day base tickets and WP&M the dr is saying she may or maynot be able to get wet we will see 2 weeks from now which is 2 days before we leave. I am wondering since everything is finalized and paid for will I be able to cancel WP&M and switch to park hoppers or add more days or something of the sort or will I just plain loose the money spent if we arent able to do the waterparks?

If you don't use any of the WPF&M entitlements, a ticket booth or Guest Relations can remove the option as long as they're still technically "upgrading" the ticket to something with equal or greater dollar value.
