Can Winnie the Pooh Spell?

My English teacher said he can't to which my friend and I were most upset. I was just wondering if someone can either back my friend and I up and justify our little strike of about 3 minutes or clarify my teacher's belief.

Well oddly enough I was just reading Eeyore Loses a Tail last night to the baby --- and no Pooh can't spell. Here's a quote (I can't believe I just went and looked this up.) It's in the part where Pooh goes knocking on Owl's door looking for advice on finding the tail.

These notices had been written by Christopher Robin, who was the only one in the forest who could spell;
