Can we use wands from 2015?

I bought my kids a couple of interactive wands in 2015. DH and I are taking a trip to UO in October and we don't really want our own wands but since DH has never been, I thought it might be fun for him to see what they do. Will the wands from 2015 still work? Do they have a battery or something that would need to be changed? If they won't work then I'll just leave them home. Thanks

Use them.

From what I've gleaned the magic comes from a reflector for the IR beam. No batteries.

If by chance it's not working, take it to the wand shops and they'll help you.

And by help you, she means if your wands aren't working they will give you brand new ones for free. That shocked me when they were like here you go all fixed and it was new.

Really? That's pretty cool, but I don't think I'd take advantage of that…my kids chose those wands in 2015, I wouldn't want to change them for something different. I guess if they still have the same wands, I'd do that...

I don't think they've changed them.

If you have an interactive and the IR reflector is broken, you might as well get it replaced rather than buy a new one and keep the broken one.

I'm pretty sure our interactive wand is from either fall of 2015 or spring of 2016, can't remember exactly which trip we bought it on, but it still works great.

We have one from 2015 and one from 2016 and both work great in Orlando and Hollywood. One has been "fixed" twice with no problems.
