Can we use park tickets from free dining package if at convention?

We are going to be at Disney for 7 nights because of a convention. I just received a free dining code and I am trying to use it because I think it would be a better deal for my family compared to the convention rate. When I called to get the free dining promo they have every night available except one night in the middle of our stay. So I am thinking of doing the first three nights at the convention rate and the last 4 nights with the free dining. Now for the quesiton that I know the disboard can handle The person I spoke with said that if I buy seven day tickets with the free dining package it is up to the hotel to decide if they will allow me to apply the days to my KTTW card when I check in under the convention and begin using my seven days before I actually check in to the free dining part of my stay. I am wondering if that would really be possible. I would hate to get there and them not let me start using the days right away. On the other hand I don't want to buy a 3 day ticket and then 4 day ticket with the package as the cost would not make sense. Thoughts?

It's not "up to the hotel" if they'll let you pick them up early. It's standard procedure to allow you to pick up your park tickets 3 days early regardless of where you are staying.

Refer to the Tickets FAQ sticky on the Theme Parks board. It's written by a CM who works in ticketing.

I love these boards! I knew I could get the answer I needed. It would have helped if she said it like that but she really said 'it is up to the hotel but they are usually pretty good about people there for a convention. Thanks.

One more thing. I am assuming I can't use the meals until the actual day of checkin for the free dining part of my stay. Is that correct or can you use those early if you want?
