We check in on December 15th, if we decide to go down early by a day or two, can we go ahead and start using our tickets or do we have to wait until the 15th?
Thanks!

If your tickets are part of a package then no, you can't "use" them until you check in.
That's incorrect. Although the phone reps will tell you this, it is simply not true.

You'll need to stop by Guest Services and "activate" your tickets. When tickets are purchased as part of a package, you can activate them up to three days before your room reservation starts.

You can get your package tickets early, up to 3 days prior to check-in day. As posted above, visit Guest Relations (at the entry gate to each of the 4 theme parks and 2 outlets at DTD). Have your resort package info with you, so they can confirm your stay. Also need photo ID.

It depends on the kind of tickets you are using.

I know that my tickets (UK 14 day tickets) are not able to be used before my check in date. The policy is different with different tickets.

How do you know that info?

For sure, if you where to purchase UK 14 day tickets as stand-alone tickets (not part of a WDW Resort Package,)
they could be used at absolutely any time, independent of any resort check-in.

How did you purchase your UK 14 day tickets?

As part of a package. It's in the terms and conditions for UK guests when booking through WDTC UK that they can't be used before your check in date.

Well, speaking from what the "official line" from Disney is regarding non-UK Resort Pkg. tickets,
and what REALLY happens at WDW (which is, guests are told in advance that they CAN'T activate early, but once they arrive at WDW, they CAN.)

It might (MIGHT) very well be possible to activate the UK package tickets up to three days before check-in.
Has anyone reading this tried to do so?

Also, is it possible to book "room only" from UK and buy the 14 (or 24) day tickets separately?

(I know that it IS possible, I just don't know if the cost significantly different, one way or the other.)

It comes up frequently on the UK board, and no-one there has been able to do it, and there are some very frequent visitors who all report that.

They can be booked separately, but that makes you ineligible for free dining/free gift card/free memory maker offer.

Not an issue for us, but as OP didn't detail what ticket they would be using, I thought I'd mention how things work for our ticket/package! :)

I tried using the 21 day tickets early (maybe 3 or 4 days early) nine years ago and failed. We were staying at the WDW Hilton for a conference, but moving to Port Orleans after the conference. I had booked 21 day tickets in the package and phoned and was told I could pick them up early. Epcot guest services couldn't do it on the first evening so gave me some complimentary park hoppers for that night and told me to go to Port Orleans in the morning. The next day the hotel tried for 20 minutes to release the tickets early and failed and gave me six more park hoppers to last the three days for the two of us until we checked in and got the tickets linked on a KTTW.

I notice on my confirmation for 2016 trip it very very clearly states that tickets will activate on 23rd September 2016 (our first night).
