Can we talk about kid's Christmas stuff?

School started for us yesterday. That is normally the start to my Christmas shopping for my daughter. Even if I don't buy it now, I have a good idea on what I want to buy, so I can look for the best deal.

This year I've got nothing except a Gabby Douglas leotard I got for a steal. And she won't be able to wear it for a year so that is a pretty sucky present. She did ask Nana for a Fitbit and will get that.

She already has enough Legos to build a city. Craft supplies like crazy. She has a fire tablet that she loves, school is giving her a laptop (we are overrun with computers anyway the hubs is an IT guy), and a friend gave us a computer desk. She has a slider phone with a limited plan and she hasn't had it long enough to show me she won't break a better phone.

What are you buying your kids this year? My daughter is nine, I welcome all suggestions.

I have a nine year old girl. She wants everything! :scared:

Seriously though, she has asked for games for her Xbox one (I picked up a great deal on an Xbox gift card to cover that). Does she have a cool case for her tablet? Maybe a carry case for her laptop?

I like to have my daughter write a letter to Santa REALLY early! She only every asks for one thing, but at least I then know what she wants most.

I don't know 9 year old girls too much. My grandmunchkins are boys, 8 and soon to be 11. I got them an electronic life game on clearance at Target, so we can play together. They also have the girl nerf bow and arrows on clearance. My grandmunchkins want them, saw them at the store but wouldn't get the non feminine white ones because they're made for girls, lol.

You said she has a lot of craft supplies, but does she have a friendship bracelet kit? They're really popular here.

My grandmunchkins also like Toysrus gift certificates as they can get almost anything there, including video games.

The Amazon card is a great idea also, as my grandmunchkins LOVE to get packages in the mail!!

And off topic, but I can't believe your daughter is already 9!!!

Clothing. accessories, or maybe gift cards to Claire's or Justice? My niece when she was nine LOVED clothes! I actually love to do a shopping trip during post Christmas sales as a gift. She's 13 and still loves (apparently I am still "cool" enough to go to the mall with!)

Camera - there are some cute / cool / trendy ones that approximate a Polaroid I think. DS wants done 'good' headphones so that'll probably be his big gift. He doesn't have a kindle and a child with special needs destroyed the tablet we had gotten him am during a behavioral episode this summer; it was a no brand cheap tablet we scored for $0 OOP the day after thanksgiving last year so a kindle may 'appear' under the tree this year too. Otherwise we will probably get him new soccer gloves, basketball, and a few other random do-dads...

Has she redecorated her room or wanted to? Maybe that could be something.

Truthfully, I really loved when I would get those coupons "good for a girls' mani/pedi day" type things.

If she's into gymnastics will the tour of champions type thing come anywhere near you if they have one? Maybe tickets to that?

Looking back I always liked time and experiences with people more than "stuff" because the memories lasted longer.

My son is 9 going on 10 and my daughter just turned 6.

We gift ALOT of experience gifts...mini golf, roller skating, baseball game tickets (my daughter loves to go to them!), movie theatre tickets, concert tickets, pottery place, mani/pedi etc. last Christmas the big gift was a set of 4 tickets to 8 baseball games at our local affiliate on fun themed nights. On Saturday - we have Princess Night! Ha!

Other things - gift certificates to pick out own clothes, shoes, a new 'winter' coat, headphones, bedspread, 'new' music, jewelry, sneakers, backpack, new bike, new scooter..

Now - all those suggestions later - I have to ask - what does your 9 year old do with a phone?? Do her friends have phones? Do you have rules for it? Definitely not judging with these questions - just trying to learn what others do so that I can make some decisions about my own kid! Feel free to PM me if you don't want it to turn into a debate here!

I am going to ask for a letter this weekend. I bet $5 it will say Fitbit and sharpies. Would a bucket of sharpies be bad? Lol

She needs weight lifting gloves so she can tumble on concrete at parades. Thanks for the reminder, added to the list!

The Kellogg tour comes through in oct. Maybe I can get college meet tickets? I will google that!
