Can we rent car seats?

I've read before about people getting to their Disney hotels and renting regular strollers and cribs, etc... Does anyone know if its possible to rent car seats and/or boosters. We are getting transfers through Florida tours who provide the car seat and booster, but later in our trip, my Father-in-law is picking up the kids for a little outing so we need car seats for just that one day. Anybody have any ideas? Or should I just lug mine through the airport!! Thanks!

I would take your own. During a vacation is not the time to be figuring out how to use a rental car seat correctly.

Your FIL can rent a carseat for one day from a company such as A Baby's Best Friend or Baby's Away; they will deliver it to his house and then pick it up again when he has finished with it. This is a very common practice in places where there are a lot of retiree grandparents, the rental companies are used to it.

I would normally say to bring your own if you were using a rental car and needed it to get to your resort from the airport, but when it is a local relative who is transporting the children, having the relative get a seat and install it makes sense. After all, even if you had your own carseat the car would be different than the one you are used to, so the installation would still not be perfectly routine. Presumably, he will have plenty of time to make sure that the seat is properly installed before he picks the kids up.

MicheleC - I recently asked the same question and posted it in the "Disney for Familes" forum. We're flying and would need the car seat every day in our rental car, but you might be interested to see what others had to say about renting.

I personally would not rent from the car rental agencies due to price ($10.00 per day) and a prior bad experience. It dosen't sound like it would be convenient for your FIL anyway.

If your children are young enough to need them in the car you may find you want to use them in the airplane. Here is some information that may help you make that decision if you haven't already:

Otherwise renting for a day from a baby equipment rental company could work, again it may be pricey. My sil used a babies best friend for a crib rental and it was in great shape and they gave her great service. Try here for prices and information:

Could your fil ask around to see if one could be borrowed for the day? Especially if the lender could help him install it properly and have it in the car prior to picking you up!

You don't say the ages of the children but we use a backless booster for travel and it was less to purchase than the cost of a two day rental. Looks like this:

If your child meets the height and weight requirement this is a great seat for travel - and is often found on sale for $15.00 or less! It can be packed with your checked luggage or perhaps shipped directly to your fil from the website and kept for other visits.

HTH, have a great trip.
