Can we make it better? Is it great already

I have been a disappearing WISHer. But it was b/c of dramatic life situations that made it unsafe for me to post.

Anywho.....I have really enjoyed my team. We have a miles thread and a talking thread. I post my miles 1x a month, but can go to the talking thread to see what my team is up to. Like everyone, my life is extreemly busy and trying to respond to everyone on the big thread is a bit overwhelming.

On the other hand, I miss my other friends on the Dis boards. There are people who I felt close to that I do not know what is going on in their lives right now. It is b/c I have not read and replied on the main thread.

I have not been on the main thread for a long time and feel it would be a bit rude to start posting about my recent races when everyone is so caught up with the upcoming Disney races. I have not participated in the WDW race for the past 2 years and feel a bit left out b/c of it. This is not b/c of anyone on the boards, just b/c my races are taking a different direction. Truely it is me and not anyone posting.

I don't know the answer at this point. This is just how I have felt. I love the WISH team. It is cool to get to know people and meet them at races. I think the teams are a good idea, but I also agree they take away from the main thread......so what to do?

I love my WISH team, but I too don't get on as much as I use to. Whatever you guys decide is fine with me but I miss the old weekly thread.:sad1:

Hope things are better for you now Christa. I don't think it would be rude of you to post. That is what that thread is for - I am sure everyone will be thrilled to hear about your recent races - I must say I am impressed with your times. I am sure no one will mind if you pop in - it will get minds off the taper (even though I don't feel affected by a taper since the last month has been a BIG taper for me - LOL) Good luck in your upcoming marathon.

I have a weird thought. The teams started after we did a 1000 mile challenge on a thread Dave started. It was fun to watch the miles add up.

What if we kept the teams but posted on the weekly thread instead?

Each team member would need to keep the tally for their team going at the end of their post or pm the captain their miles if life got out of hand. And captains would need to start each week off with an updated team total. This would allow us to keep up with other teams too. Each team could have a team talk thread if they wanted to but it wouldn't be for reporting so it could stay chatty and encouraging. Just a thought.

I joined WISH last year just about the time the teams formed. For various reasons I can't recall I chose not to join one. I don't regret that decision, but I do think to some extent the weekly thread may be the "anti team" thread LOL! Several of us on there are either not in teams or in the "less then active teams"

I will say that even though I often post "drive by" postings on the weekly thread and rarely try the "power posting" responding to everyone that some folks do (MORE POWER TO THEM!) I don't feel "unwelcome" I kind of view the thread as "my accountablity" so my feelings aren't hurt if no one responds for example.

If the teams continue I don't think I will join again this year, but I hope that the weekly thread will continue no matter what.

Now, I will say that there may be a risk that the "team threads" do tend to create an "insiders" look when newbies come? I mean it's like a second language LOL!
