Can we get DDP without the MYWP ?

We like the Disney Dining Plan - but do we have to get the Magic Your Way Package too ?

Then will be exempt from getting an AAA rate at the resort ?

Can we just get an AAA rate at our resort (YC), a 10 day park hopper ticket (mapleleaf website) and the DDP for the # of nights at the YC b/c we are staying at a WDW resort ?

Can I book it myself ?

the MYW package with DDP and the AAA discount, at least they used to. We booked that way in 2006. But you have to use a AAA travel agent to do this. Disney can book the AAA discount on a room only but not on a package.

You cannot get the DDP without booking a package.

But you still have to buy at least a one day base ticket for everyone in the package if you add dining (not free) to your AAA discounted room.
Only exception is DVC members booking on points, and AP holders booking a AP room discount.

Only if you are a DVC member (or rent points from a DVC member) or you have an adult AP holder in your party. Only these two categories are exempt from the room/tickets package requirement.

If there is a discount rate for the full package you can get that. But you still must buy tickets with your package.

You can buy as little as a one-day base ticket, so if you want to you can get those plus the discount tickets. You can use the one-day pass, upgrade it, or keep it (they don't expire).

We stay for 13 nights (14 days) at the YC.

1) We book our room with the AAA discount through WDW.

2) We can buy our 10 day park hoppers through "maple leaf".

3) Then buy four adult 1 day park passes though WDW and request DDP for our 13 nights at the YC.

We'll have 11 days in the parks, one day DTD, and one day at Harry Potter World if it is open.

I assume we then pay in full for the YC AAA rate room, 1 day park passes and DDP on or before the 45 day before we arrive day.
We arrive March 27th. - so we pay in full around Feb 18th.

Am I correct on the above ?

You can book the room with the AAA discount if there is a discount on the PACKAGE. You can't get a room only discount with DDP unless you are an AP holder.

And you must book your one-day park tickets and DDP as part of the package. They will be booked together with your room. You can't book the room, then go back and book the tickets and DDP. (Although you could book a room/tickets package and then go back and add DDP - but there must be a package to add it to.)

No, you can't do this. You have to book your AAA with a AAA agent to get a package that includes your tickets and dining plan.

If you book room with AAA through Disney, you have a room-only reservation. You cannot add the dining plan. You can only add the dining plan to a package and Disney doesnt' book AAA packages themselves.

But the price of a 10 day ticket (from Mapleleaf) plus a 1 day ticket (from Disney) is going to be greater than purchasing a 10 day ticket with your package from Disney. Since 1 day tickets run around $70 now (per person) that seems like a lot for 1 more day in the park.

For what you are trying to do - your best bet is to book through AAA (I think you can even book through the AAA website) - buy the package with a 10 day ticket, and the dining plan.

Save the extra $70 (1 day ticket) and spend a day in Downtown Disney instead on your 11th day (this is free and there are lots of shops - which of course, may tempt you to spend the $70 in a whole different way).
