I'm not thrilled with my queue.

What have you seen lately...loved? hated?

We watched The Aviator last night. Yep we are that behind. I really liked it. I'm not a Leonardo fan at all but he was quite good. The movie did confuse me a bit, especially the scenes from Hughes' perspective. It was a problem with the directing, were they implying halluciations, sexual abuse? DH and I had varying opinion on whether or not some things were 'real.'

I recently watched "A Very Long Engagement". It is French and by the same people who did Amelie. I really enjoyed it.

I've been adding TV shows to my queue. Shows that I didn't start watching from the beginning but always wanted to see. My queue is huge but a lot of them are tv shows with multiple discs. If there is a movie coming out that I want to see, I just bump it to the top, but in those dry spells I have those tv shows coming.

We've been Netflixing TV also...watched the first 3 seasons of "24" and "Alias". Recently watched the "Pride and Prejudice" mini-series with Colin Firth, and the Horatio Hornblower mini-series from A&E. I'm currently watching the first season of the Gilmore Girls (although my DH is skipping that one ;))

"12 Angry Men" was really good and is still very relevant today.

I couldn't bring myself to finish "Cellular" and "Door in The Floor". The first one was (IMHO) just bad - bad writing, bad acting. The second had too many shots of Jeff Bridges' nekkid rear than I really wanted to see. And "The Hustler" felt like it dragged on for too long.

I love netflix for TV programs. Currently watching the Arrested Development series.

Last few movies I watched were:

Alexander: Eh. I had to turn it off, I can't even remember the last part of it I saw, and I know the only reason I agreed to watch it in the first place is that someone promised me there would be full frontal male nudity. If there was full frontal male nudity, I wasn't able to endure enough of the film to get to that point. Oliver Stone is just insane.

The Group: This is an obscure sort of movie made in the 60s that I caught while flipping channels. It's about a group of women who graduate from college together in the 30's and go forward in life. Each of them is very different - each of them flawed in their own way. I liked it a lot. Candice Bergen is in it as a lesbian who goes to Europe and comes back with a German companion. Larry Hagman is a drunk, abusive playwright and married to one of "the group".

The Notebook: I was afraid to watch this because I thought it would render me weeping and a complete wreck, but it wasn't that sort of tear jerker for me. Just a sweet, old fashioned love story. Really enjoyed it and I am so glad I decided to rent it.

Next up in my queue are the next round of Arrested Development, and a new series for me -- THe Office, and a movie called Playing by Heart that a co-worker recommended.

Just watched "In the Name of the Father". Very good especially if your Irish like me and it's based on a true story.

Sideways-didn't know what all the fuss was about.

Vera Drake-very intense but if you like drama, this is it.

Mean Girls-oy hate to go back to high school but it's cute.

Mr. 3000-if you like Bernie Mac it's good but though I love him wasn't wild about it. But he is funny.

Legend of Ron Burgandy and Elf-both Will Farrell movies both very funny.

I just returned my movies after a shameful 3 weeks I think. We have been so busy!

"Constantine" with Keanu Reeves
Personally I am a Good VS Evil FAN so I loved this darn movie, so much that I watched the director's cut and want to read the comic it came from.
Typically Keanu, dry and dull, however, perfect for the character he played.
Movie itself not spectacular. I am in it for the concepts. I found perspective very interesting.

"Million Dollar Baby" with Hillary Swank & Clint Eastwood
Good movie. I love Hillary as an actor. Worth it to watch Eastwood. I found his performance fantastic.

Next up....
"Team America" SouthPark creators
I saw this at the show. I found it terrible. However 14yodd wants to see it. I will rewatch again for the laughs.

"Prophecy Uprising"...
4th installment of the Good VS Evil movie. Lacks Christopher Walken, but I have to see it anyway.

"Sin City"...Bruce Willis
Another Dark Comic Book tale. Supposed to be extreme violence. We will see how long I get thru it.

Just watched:

Sense and Sensibility - Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet. My sole reason is to watch Alan Rickman. If you like Jane Austen, or like period British movies, this is a good one. The original Pride and Prejudice miniseries with Colin Firth is also really good.

Ring Two - Naomi Watts. Boring... had to fast forward many many sections

Sin City - Bruce Willis, Clive Owen, Jessica Alba. Very entertaining in a weird way. Have to be high to get the full effect. ;)

Just returned The Notebook. Very sweet movie, DH took a pass though.

We are currently on Disc 6 of Lost. We never watched it the first time, and are really enjoying it now.

Otherwise, we have a lot of older movies on that we want to see again. A lot of family movies (Flubber, Darbey O'Gill, stuff like that)

The next few on my list is Into the West, A Perfect Murder (saw some of it on TV and was interested), Robots.

My movie update...

"Sin City"...couldn't watch the whole thing. It was weird and violent. Not a "bad" movie, just not my cup of tea. I think you have to be in the right frame of mind for that movie.
Elijah Wood has a really creeepy part!

"Team America"...well it is pure awful stuff. Funny bits that make you laugh or scream in horror.

"Prophecy:Uprising"....4th movie in 'Prophecy' series. It was not too bad. I expected much worse.

The last few we watched were:

The Longest Yard....watched the whole thing and kept waiting for it to get better.

A Beautiful Mind....very good, enjoyed it very much.

Cold Mountain...very good, enjoyed this very much too.

Sahara...it was okay, not bad, but not great either. Actually fell asleep towards the end.

Because of Winn Dixie....very cute childrens film.

Taking Lives....a little different, but really like it.

Recent rentals I loved: :3dglasses

Into the West (miniseries)
Antonia's Line (in Dutch)
Super Troopers

I'm getting the new Batman move tomorrow! Oh yeah! That movie was great!

Weekend at Bernies-- I forgot how much cursing was in it! that being said, its pretty funny..especially the person who plays 'Bernie'.

Chris Rock: Never Scared-- this was his most recent concert. We laughed our butts off! But the f-bombs were frequent.

Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse-- all I can say is this was DH's idea. Apparently he watched this cartoon when he was a kid. It was before my time, and it was pretty stupid. He got a few laughs for nostalgia sake, but all in all pretty poor.

Just sent back:

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants....I liked it, the best part was about the little girl.

Welcome to the Dollhouse...a dark comedy about a 7th grader adjusting to life in JR high in the early 90s. Funny, easy to relate to, a little over the top in some parts

Going to watch after the DIS....DAmaged Care...a doctor protests against managed care

Waiting for:

Degrassi Jr High.... :rotfl:

Rock School (not School of Rock) this is a documentary

Undeclared...TV series
the Punisher

and then Lost, Desperate Housewives, Hitchhikers GUide to the Galaxy all on long wait

Best lately has been Crash, really good acting and multiple story lines. Powerful movie, shows how racism is still effecting our society whether we think it is or not.

i'll second that for Crash - really great movie!

i love netflix becos you can find all sorts of out-of-the-ordinary things on there. right now i'm in the middle of watching the "7 up" series from britian. it is a series of documentaries started in 1963. a director made a short documentary about fourteen 7-year-old british children of varying social classes. then in 1970 he made another documentary about the same group of children at 14, then seven years later at 21, and so forth...the last film came out this year and they are all 49! it is such a neat idea for a series of films and it's very cool to follow these real people through their lives. one goes crazy and wanders around homeless, one couple sells all their belongings and travels around australia for a year, one man moves to america to teach at the university of wisconsin. very cool if you like documentaries!!!
