We are flying on Southwest for our first WDW trip. We have a 4 1/2 yr and 10 month old and we are bringing our own stroller and want to purchase a backpack carrier for the baby to take with us. I have heard that you can just roll the stroller up to the gate and they will gate check it for you, but can we also do that with our backpack carrier? :sunny:

It's possible I guess but I've never seen anyone do it. I've only seen them do it out of necessity because they brought the carseat for a child without a seat in hopes of getting a seat but there was no seat so the stewardess checks it somewhere.

We always check out carseat with our luggage and gate check our stroller.

We checked our stroller at the gate no problem. I am sure if you have two kids and want to check a stroller AND the backpack, they will have no problem with this.
It is SO much easier having the stroller in the airport with you..... We saw parents carrying their kids in the airport... because you never know what gate you will land at, the walk can be so far!
Have FUN

I would call your carrier directly. I am flying Air Transat out of Toronto with my 3 girls (2 under 2) and my airline told me they would accept strollers, carseats and baby carriers as gate-checked items and that it wouldn't count towards my luggage count. I never thought to ask if she meant backpack carriers but I would assume so as the front carriers are small enough to carry on. Hope that helps! Have fun!
