Can we do this?

Our reservations begin on September 17, but we will be flying in late(10pm) on the September 16, my BIL will already be at Disney - staying at the FW CAbins. My DH thinks we should just go over to FW and stay with them for the night instead of wasting money on a room.

Do you think we will even get into FW or will they turn us away at the gate and we will be out of luck.

I think we should just get a room only room at ASMusic (were we are staying anyway)

Any thoughts??

Since you are not on your BIL's ressie and your's isn't until the next day I doubt you will be allowed in the resort. ;)

If it were me, I wouldn't impose on my BIL. I would either pay for the extra night at ASM, or use Priceline to find an inexpensive off-site room for the one night.

We are in the same situation. Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 11:30. We were trying to figure out what to do because my dh didn't want to spend the extra money on a room just for a couple of hours. We finally decided to book Pop Century for the night and then will check into AKL for our reservation there. We were able to get two rooms at Pop for one night for about $155.

If your brother doesn't mind than I would stay one night with him. It seems silly to waste 150.00 for a few hours. By the time you get settled it will be really late. If he doesn't mind, just have him at you to the ressie for one night.

Well, I think sometimes it is worth it to pay for convenience! I think it would be inconvenient to crash at BILs, especially so late and if it will exceed occupancy. Just think how wonderful to wake up and get ready to hit the parks. Even if you have to check in again at ASMU, you will have to transport your luggage no further than bell services.

I would just add the additional night at ASMu. We did this same thing last September (arrived very late the night before due to better flight prices) and we just added that additional night to our resort. Since we were there during free dining, we paid another night at rack rate, but we also got another night's worth of credits :goodvibes. We also didn't want the hassle of moving the next day, especially with not checking in until 12:30 a.m.. I'm assuming you're going during free dining; if so, I'd maybe check to see if it would be possible to add that night to your existing ressie and still get the free dining :confused3. I know it's a long shot since the free dining booking window is over, but it wouldn't hurt to ask....all they can say is "no". And if they do allow it, that would save you from moving the next morning....plus you'll gain another night's worth of credits :). If adding the night with free dining doesn't work, just book the room only and have them link the 2 together as a continuing ressie. You will still have to check out and check back in, but maybe not have to switch rooms ;).

FW cabins hold 6. Why is everybody assuming they'd be over the limit?:confused3 I saw no mention of the number of people in each party. Everybody is so quick to judge.....

If your BIL doesn't mind, and you're within the cabin limits, I see nothing wrong with staying with him for a night. Only 1 car is allowed at each cabin, so if you have 2, BIL will have to ask where to park the 2nd car.

I agree. I think its a waste of 150.00 dollars to get a room for another night. You would be paying for something you wouldn't even be using. That doesn't make sense.:confused3 You could take that money and spend it on something else or save it. Also, we switched resorts from POP to Beach Club Villas 3 weeks ago and it was smooth. You can get a taxi if you don't have a car. Our taxi cost us 8.00 when we switched. Smooth!

The OP asked for thoughts on the subject, and that's what those of us that replied provided. From the replies that I read, no one was being judgemental. You are correct that no mention was made as to the number of people, so we can't assume they wouldn't fall within the limit, but neither can we assume that they would.

No matter how you are getting to Disney World, the problem is Fort Wilderness. You are not going to be able to be dropped off right in front of the brother-in-law's cabin. If he has a car and you have one, you can't park the second one at the cabin. So you would have to drive back (the campground is dark at night since it has minimal lights), unload your stuff, then drive the car back to the front to park it and then take a bus back to the cabin. If you are using Magical Express, you would be dropped off at the front as well (not sure how they get people back to the sites or if this is even an option).

It doesn't matter if you are within the occupancy limits or if your brother-in-law doesn't mind you crashing there. What matters is how much hassle you want to go through around midnight (or later).

And remember, Fort Wilderness is extremely quiet and dark at night. I guarantee that your brother-in-law's neighbors are going to hear you quite well.

If your BIL doesn't mind and you are within the cabin limits it's really fine(and easy too). If you have your own car others are right, only one car is allowed at the cabin, but there is plenty of space in the front lot, you can even park in the HDDR parking and not bother with the guard gate. Pack overnight bags for everyone, call your BIL when you get to the parking lot and he can come get you at the gate(you will need to walk from your car to the key card lot, just a few aisles over). As long as no one is running and screaming I doubt your BIL's neighbors will even notice. The campground is quiet, but the cabins are pretty well insulated against sound.

I think that FW is just too difficult to get to and especially that late at night...too many obstacles.

Last month, we landed at 1a, I certainly didn't want to pay for a night at the YC, so we stayed at POP, then transferred over to YC.

OP is you are able to get into your resort for a room only reserveration, I'd do that in a heartbeat.

ME won't even take you there because you aren't on the list, so you will have to drive. If you book at All Stars, ME will take you there.

Thanks for all your replies, I had no idea it would get so many of you in an uproar and set all your pants on fire... We'll just decide ourselves and keep it to ourselves....:dance3:

We decided to drive straight through this year instead of stopping earlier. We are staying at WL but didn't want to pay that much for such a late night arrival so we thought we'd stay at a value for one night. All the values were sold out. The lowest price they had was a mod that wasn't that much different than just staying another night at WL. Disney actually looked around for DH and offered us the Best Western in DTD for around 89 a night. We took it. It is not a Disney resort, but since we are driving, we didn't need Magical Express. It is also located right next to DTD which will be nice. We can take a stroll over there if we are not too tired. We are still saving a little money by doing this. Every little bit helps and Disney will get my money through souvin"ears". (sorry, bad joke)
