Can we do this?

We arrive at WDW this Saturday. I originally made an ADR for California Grill for Saturday night and I have not cancelled it. BUT, I also have one for California Grill on Thursday night of our stay - we will be meeting another family and celebrating two birthdays that night. I'd really love to just eat dessert at CG Sat night and save the BIG tab for Thursday. I know that technically they can not force us to order something, but I don't want to frustrate a server by going up Sat. night and just ordering dessert and enjoying the fireworks. I really think that would be a great way to start our vacation. Any thoughts? Thanks!

i don't know... but they take a credit card to secure your ressie, don't they? my advice would be to call and ask... if you call the adr line, they can give you the direct number for the restaurant...

being that it's a saturday night (read: BUSY) i would hesitate to take a table and only have dessert, but that's just me... especially at fireworks time...

I agree with gigi1313 I personally would not take a table in a busy restaurant on a Saturday night just for desert. I am sure there will be those that disagree with me, but I would not feel right doing that.

I went to Chefs Le France once just for the profiteroles! sp They told us we could not have a table just for dessert. They did accommodate our craving by allowing us to sit at the bar. It was very embarrassing! After thinking about it I can understand it, the tables were never empty.

I would definitely advise against doing this - Saturday night is a very busy night, since a lot of locals come out as well. They don't have the tables to allow people to only eat dessert and watch fireworks. I would either have a full meal or skip it and wait for the day you're planning on having the full meal.
