Can we do Magic Kingdom and MGM in 1 1/2 days?

My husband and I are taking our 3 year old to DisneyWorld this weekend. He will be in the area on business, so we thought it might be a convenient time to take our daughter. However, we only have 1 1/2 days to tour the park. We were thinking Magic Kingdom for a full day and MGM for 1/2 day. All our daughter says she wants to see is the various princess characters and Bear in the Big Blue House.

So, this is my question. Are we being naive thinking that 1 1/2 days is adequate? Are we going to get to the parks and be overwhelmed with everything else we suddenly realize we "have to do"? Will a 3-year-old discover that there is a alot more she wants to do than see Cinderella and Bear? Is it just a matter of being disciplined and not getting sidetracked? Help!

HI
everyone is different but in our experience you'll be fine

just realize before you get there that you WILL NOT see everything

our first trip DD was 4 and 6

we did a full day at MK and had a full day planed at MGM

by lunch time at MGM the girls were Done
they had seen the stuff they wanted and were ready to go swim

last time we went ant 6 and 8 they were they same way

so i say 1 1/2 days will be fine

If you can, grab the unnofficial guide to WDW. There are touring plans for families with young children. I'm assuming you will be going on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, the MK is packed on the weekends and this being the start of the Easter week, crowds in the MK may be wall to wall. My advice is get to the park before opening to get some things in before the crowds arrive in force. If Dumbo is a must, do it first. The lines build up quickly and it is slow to load. I only mention this because my DD insists on it, and I've been known to wait an hour for a 3 minute carnival ride :) . Read up on fast pass if you haven't already...use it for Pooh, Peter Pan, and Buzz Lightyear if you can. The afternoon parade draws massive crowds, so if that's not a must see, it might be a good time to ride some attractions with shorter waits. I'm not trying to deter you, just be prepared and know you won't be able to do everything you want. Have a great time!!!

We were just there and while we had 3 kids with us that wanted to see different things we were able to see MK in a day and mgm in a half a day but went back to mgm to see fantasmic. We had more time than 2 days but i would make sure to see the things that you really want to see first and anything else you do on top of that is a bonus. We also did a charater dinner while we were there and all the kids LOVED it. If your child is not afraid of the characters i would highly recommend it! My 5 yr. old ds just couldn't keep from giving Minnie all the kisses she could handle!! It was a very cute experience and I will never forget the memories!
