We're planning on doing both parks in one day and I have just booked my hotel at the Royal Pacific to take advantage of the line jumping thing. It just me and my boyfriend so no kinds to drag around and we'll be doing Citywalk the night before. Think we can do it all?

you can probably do everything once, except you might have to skip the shows.

You do realize that one night at the RP gives you two days of the "line jumping thing", right??

You can use it for the day you check in and the full day you check out. I would use both days to really get a good tour of the parks.

Sure, you can do it in one day but you will miss alot.

Yes, you can do it all in a day minus some shows.
Arrive to IOA at 08:30am, they open at 9. Go clockwise around the park, doing the rides in order (Hulk, Spiderman, Dr. Doom, Rip Saw, Popeye, JPRA, DD, Posiden, kid rides). Go back to your room and change cloths, eat lunch, rest, then go over to USF in the afternoon. An early lap around IOA takes about 3 hours, not including the Sinbad show and the kiddie rides.

Try not to party hard at CityWalk the night before. The early start is the key to making all this work.

Yes we will have to behave at Citywalk! We're doing Disney the first 5 days because I love it so much and I only want to give up 1 1/2 days for Universal. I know that Universal doesn't do fastpass so is it pretty much necessary to stay on-site to avoid the long waits?

They do have a FastPass called Universal Express. It works very similar to FP, you put your ticket or card into a machine and yoiu are given a slip with a time to return. If you stay onsite you don't need the tickets, which sometimes run out by days end, and you walk to the UE entrance by showing your card key.

You did not say what time of year you are going. I went solo last year for one day the first weekend of February (a Sunday) and did both parks complete, with many attractions being done multiple times (i.e., Spidey 4 times, MIB 4 times, Kong, Twister, Earthquake, T2-3D twice each). I took my "break" at 12:00 PM by eating at Mythos. You definitely need to be there at opening and not spend alot of time shopping or anything.
This weekend we do two days and I'm looking forward to taking it slow and easy :) .
