Question:
Five of us. Two rooms. Each of us has regular DDP. If my husband and I upgraded to Deluxe, can we sit at the same table with our kids who will be on the regular dining plan?

I'm thinking this might be a good thing to do because we can sort of share breakfast etc (at the Pepper Market), and then we can order two appetizers at dinner.

Is that OK that 3 people will be on DDP on two on Deluxe?

Also trying to figure out if that would help with us doing a signature restaurant somehow (need to wrap my head around that at home later...not at the office) lol!

Thanks.

If the rooms are on separate accounts, you can sit together and just get separate checks. You can mix dining plans and out-of-pocket in this fashion as well.

Just be sure to let your server know which meals are being ordered in which fashion.

I do believe that if it is one reservation with 2 rooms everyone has to be on the same plan. (someone correct me if I am wrong)

If it is seperate reservations for the 2 rooms (each room has it's own reservation) then you will be fine.

The servers can split checks just like at normal restaurants outside WDW.

if you have two separate reservations, sure you can do that. And it works great...we had no issues sharing our appetizers with friends who were not on the Deluxe. The server just brought out 4 plates even though only two of us were on the Deluxe...they obviously expected us to be sharing (and they knew in advance that only 2 of us were on the Deluxe...even looked at the cards to verify the info.)

Are all your kids under 18? If they are, you will have to have an adult registered in each room. That means the parents can't have the same plan.

As long as it is a separate reservation, it will be fine. What's the difference if its 2 adults, as long as it is 2 disney adults, you can still get 2 apps for the table and order any entree with either plan. Also the waiter only looks at one card (well in this case 2 since it will be separate rooms) to see how many people are on the plan. When my DH and I go to eat, then only look at/take one of our cards to know which plan we are on & make sure it has 2 adults listed, they don't verify that I am the 2nd adult on the plan, for all they know, I'm not, so it wouldn't matter if both parents were in the same room or not.

The OP said specifically they wanted to buy the DxDDP for the parents. Of course they could put any child age 10 or over in a room with the parent and get DxDDP for two adults then.

But they may not be able to have separate room reservations and have only minor children registered in one room. It sounds like they were planning to register one room for the parents and one for the children. They may have to change that.
