I'm sure I will have lots of questions, but for now I am trying to decide which tickets to buy. We are going in May and I will be 6 months pregnant with DH, DS4 and DS6. Would you reccommend going to the water parks or saving that for another visit? I'm not sure there would be a whole lot for me to do there or that I may not be much help to DH with the boys at the water park.

Let's make a list of other tips too, not just related to my current decision. Thanks!

Hi, I did Disney about a week before I delivered... I think, anyway it was very close. In May, it can be very hot. Drink plenty of water to avoid false labor contractions due to dehydration. Most of the rides should be okay. I wouldn't do anything too jerky, or too much sudden movement, like the log flumes and roller coasters. I mainly do kiddie rides, because of my children's ages, so I don't know too much about that...LOL. Sorry. But at that stage of the pregnancy, take a few moments to sit and put your feet up. You may have trouble with swelling from the walking, heat, or humidity. Also, you may want to have your chart copied at your doctors office and bring it with you. Incase something happens, we have fantastic doctors and hospitals locally, but will be able to treat you easier and more efficiently if they have your records.Oh yeah...don't forget your vitamins...LOL

Thanks, rest and water seem to be the rule. We'll have to force ourselves to take it slower this trip.

I recommend CROCS, and afternoon naps. Those were my lifesaver when I was in WDW pregnant. I enjoyed alot more things in the park that I had not seen before because of doing less rides.

I took DS when he was 4, with another friend and her daughter, when I was 6 months pregnant. (DH stayed home, he couldn't get off, but he went the year before anyway.)

I took DS back for a nap every single day. DF and her DD stayed at the parks or came back and then went to the pool. I turned up the air, got a nice drink and either read and/or napped. It was the perfect thing. We took it slow and didn't rush or try to do everything.

I wore a pair of Nike Strap Runners and they were a gift from GOD. :rotfl: My feet were able to "breath" and stay cool and there was great support. Just put sun screen on your "piggies".

I wore a back pack that had a few things in it, yet was still "light".

Stop and "smell the roses" once in a while...the rocking chairs in Frontierland are perfect. Stop to snack inside a restuarant...even to have a cool drink.

No big rides at all....but with a 4 year old, that might be okay anyway.

Have fun!!! It's a vacation, remember...not a marathon.

Our 2003 tirp DW was 5 months. We took it really easy. Tried to keep walking to a minimum. I would plan a route the night before, making sure there were shows and rest areas.

We would be up early, and back to the resort by late afternoon. The water parks were a big hit for everyone. We did them the most.

We also split up a lot, so bring your cell phone. DW spent one afternoon in the lobby of the GF, which she considered the best part of the vacation for her: no kids, air conditioning, and a nice atmosphere.

Good luck....and enjoy

I'm subscribing! We are thinking of doing a trip in May - I will be 5 months pregnant by then. I'm a little concerned about the heat though. Thanks for the tips and advice!

We're headed down in May and I'll be a little over 5 months at the time. dd2 will be with us - I"m excited - the May trip is pretty much an annual thing for us since 203- so I know what to expect - HOT! :-) When we were there in 2004, it was 95-103 every day - other years it was much more "moderate' in the mid 80's.

If it is ultra hot, we'll just alter our plans a bit and probably spend more pool time/water park time. Other than that, I guess we'll just take it slow - but we would have been pretty slow anyway with a 2 year old. I **really** want to go on the AK Safari, DD would love it, but we'll just have to see how I feel and maybe have it be first thing in the am (while i am still super hydrated)- but if I need to skip it, DH and DD can go alone - I'll live :-)

I was 6 months pregnant on our last trip, our then-15month old son's first. I had a great time, doing rides I had bypassed on previous trips in favor of the big thrill rides! As others have said, an early morning start and an afternoon nap with the AC up or a swim back at the hotel was a life saver. That and drinking LOTS of water, especially on some insanely hot days we had. I skipped the water parks, which was no big deal since my son was too young to do too much there anyway. I would definitely do it all over again. In short: some AC time, water, naps, water, more water, and you're good! :thumbsup2 Enjoy!!!

Last time we went to Disney I was 7 months pregnant with #3. I avoided all the coasters and Speedway but enjoyed the slower rides and shows with my then 2 and 4 yr olds.

We left midday for naps and spent the afternoon at the hotel pool or went back to the park around dinner time. Take your time and rest when you need to with some lemonade or water. STAY HYDRATED!

The water park was a Godsend! I floated in the lazy river and stayed cool:cool1:

Schedule a pregnancy massage at one of the spas while you are there, you deserve it:goodvibes

I was 5 months last May when DH and I went. I didn't handle the heat too well. It was in the 90's and humid. We actually had to switch resorts because POR was just too much for me. We switched to AKL and eventhough our room was a far walk that cool air was a life saver. We would hit the parks early and would swim in the afternoon. A nap in the afternoon was also a must for me.

I drank lots of water. I had pretty bad morning(more like all day) sickness for most of my pregnancy and for the most park didnt eat too much. When I did it was something light.
We did hit both TL and BB and I pretty much stuck to the wave pool and the lazy river. The lazy river helped take the pressure off my feet. It was actually my favorite thing the entire trip. I found that we enjoyed the simple things more this time. This year I get to experience with DD and I can't wait!

I'll be 4 months in June. The only thing I'm really concerned about doing that is labeled a hazard for pregnant women is the safari at AK. I've been reading that pretty many women ride that one anyway. I hope I can!

I talked it through ahead of time with my doctor (who has been on the ride himself, actually) and he told me not to worry. It's like a ride along a rough, poorly paved DC road. :rotfl: I road it once at 5 months and again on a quick trip at 7 months. I had no problem with it at all, and no one questioned me either.

We were just at WDW and I was between 8 and 9 weeks pregnant. I talked to my OB (who had also been on the ride) about this one too and she said that it was absolutely fine to ride. She said that the only time to be concerned would maybe be in late pregnancy. Honestly though, in terms of bumpiness, the boats being sent off and brought back in to be unloaded on It's a Small World were bumpier than the safari...by far!

I went to WDW at 7 months. I was pretty much full bloom at that point. The maternity belt was a blessing. I wore it every day. Washed it out at night and used Febreeze on it too. :) I carried a water bottle with me at all times and a mister fan.

We took it slow and easy. I didn't ride many rides. I didn't mind (and I'm a ride person!). I was so excited to just be there. Naps in the afternoon. Breaks here and there for AC and rest.

Still, towards the last 2-3 days of our vacation all the walking did catch up to me. (Did I mention I was in full bloom?) I still wanted to be with my family, but I had to stop so often for rest breaks. I felt like I was slowing things down way too much. Finally I got a wheel chair from the resort. It was free! It was a God send! I was able to experience the parks with my family and rest too. I only wish I had done it a day or two sooner. It's nice that they are available if you really need it.

I will be 5 months in May too! Actually, we (me, DH, and 2 year old son) will be going April 28 - May 5 and I will be 21 weeks then. Our plan is to 1) stay at the Poly, 2) rest and drink water! I'm not a big ride person and we like to sit and take snack breaks, anyway. We'll just do even a little more of it this time. This is one reason we aren't doing the dining plan. We would rather have a sandwich, then sit and have some ice cream a couple hours later. Than sit and have a cookie a couple hours after that. Repeat. Everyone stays happy that way. It keeps the crankiness away. ;) Oh yeah, I'll also have to remember to bring my vitamins and crocs. I too plan on doing the safari ride as I don't want to miss my son's reaction to the animals!

I did Disneyland 5 months pg and loved every minute of it. I did do Soarin, but if you have any nausea it might aggravate it.

One thing that was very important to me was picking up a gift for the baby, my first something (mickey, hat, trip, etc). We got a my first pooh bear and I took a picture of it in the store next to my belly. Good pic for the scrapbook!

I loved Soarin at 5 and 7 months pg, too - the nausea had mostly died down by then. I did the same thing!!! I bought a cute little outfit for the baby in the Pooh store and snapped a picture - couldn't resist!! :)

You know, I love the dining plan and we were on it the first seven nights of our 10 night trip a couple of weeks ago. I've noticed during this pregnancy that I'll feel like I'm starving and could eat everything in sight, but when I'm actually eating I fill up super quickly and barely eat half my meal. I had a lot of wasted food during our dining plan meals. The last three days that we were there we were off the dining plan and I was much happier snacking throughout the day.

One peice of advice is not to make any arrangements that are non-refundable (or that you can't use later). Lots of pregancies end up in bed rest or travel restrictions. It certainly isn't worth risking the pregnancy to travel, but its easier to let go if you can get your money back. Take out travel insurance on airfare, book cancelable rooms.
