Can we change our options thru the mail?

Hi all,

We bought a couple of days ago and they are sending a package thru the mail for us to fill out and complete (we didnt have time to do it there). We put a down payment for 160point for SSR... but did not sign any contracts. Now after reading these boards(great info on these boards) we may want to change it to the AWL (need to discuss with family 1st).

I guess I really should call my guide, but the phone number is at home and im stuck at work.

Does anyone know the point costs at AWL? About the same as SSR? Due costs? Can we change our options thru the mail?

I think you would need to call them. Call 800******* and they can give you your guides number. That is Member services.

I don't think you can make that big a change with the paperwork, without them redoing it. So it would be best to call.

Do you mean AKV (Animal Kingdom Villas) or VWL (Villas at Wilderness Lodge)?

The cost to buy in at AKV is $104/point. There is an $8/pt incentive currently available. The contract will expire Jan 31, 2057. The current dues are $4.62/point.

The cost to buy in at VWL is $98/point. There are no incentives available for VWL. Contracts at VWL expire Jan 31, 2042. Current dues are $4.73/point.

Your paperwork will have to be redone and sent out to you which is not a problem at all. You should buy whichever resort will make you happiest!

This is a VERY confusing thread. First of all, you have to specifically buy a home resort, so if you have changed your mind, they have to send DIFFERENT documents. Secondly, WHICH resort are you trying to change to? AWL has me confused. I'm trying to decide if you mean VWL or AKV. AKV would be an easy thing to change to, but VWL (which your letters seem closer to) might be difficult, since it is a small resort with much fewer ROFR'd back points available. At any rate, your documents need to specify WHERE you are buying so, you need to talk to your guide ASAP and have him draw up new documents. His direct dial number should be on the information he gave you on the tour.

oops, I am so sorry, I didn't realize that. I'm a rule follower, just wasn't aware of that one. So sorry, and thanks to someone for starring it out. I wondered why it starred out the first time, but didn't think it was a no-no, since you still have to have a member number and all that jazz.

Keep in mind that this is real estate purchase; the documents they sent you are for purchasing a fractional part of a villa at SSR. You'd need completely different documents for AKV, or VWL. The contract terms are different for each of those resorts (particularly the length of ownership).

It's a BIG change. You need to discuss this with your guide, and have them send you new documents for AKV or VWL.
