Just looking for input.

Our flight is due at MCO Friday at 9:45 am. Has anybody ever been rerouted because of a hurricane before? If so any interesting stories??

I have never been in hurricane before. It could be more fun than Mission Space.:Pinkbounc :bounce:  :thewave:

Last year we went to WDW during Hurricane Isabel. The airlines were wonderful. As the East Coast was going to be hit in Wash. DC area, the airlines asked folks to rebook their flights and leave days earlier with all fees waived. We did. We got out a day earlier, got a room as our discount for one more night and adjusted the rental car and the price didn't even go up. Glad we did because it shut the airports down for 2 days in our area. It was neat flying down to FL and seeing Isabel on the horizon as she was approaching the coast. Hope it works out for you. But do keep close tabs on the airports and your airline just in case you need to make any last minute changes.

I just called Delta and they said Orlando is not a part of their guidelines for flight cancellations. Our flight leaves LAX at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and he suggested calling late Thursday night before going to bed. Hopefully since Orlando is in central Florida, we won't be affected.

Central Florida is in the path of the hurricane on Friday. I suggest following the path of the storm through the links listed above.

I paid a visit to the National Weather Service page for the probability of when and where Hurricane Charley could strike, and here it is, note that Orlando is not listed.

Well according to the Orlando news stations I am watching the hurricane will come through the Orlando area.

Spirit and Jet Blue are allowing passengers the change their flights, free. I changed my 3pm arrival Friday to 9:15 am arrival. I found info and made this chart to tell my kids WHY they need to get up at 4:30 am now (teens, who like to sleep in). This is projected Orlando impact times, and it looks like you want to land by noon.

Friday Orlando Wind

8-10am Rain 17MPH wind
10am Showers 15MPH
11-12 Showers 19MPH

I get the feeling MCO will be closed in the morning before we get there.

Does anybody have experience with airport closings during a hurricane??

YIKES. I'm due to land at 6:35 P>M> on Friday the 13th. I feel BAD Karma.!!!!

Just received a call this morning that my flight has been canceled. No more worrying about flying on Friday the 13th - Into a Hurricane. I'm now rescheduled for Thurs. 19th.

Heard that Disney World is closing today at 1 p.m. Which has only happened twice before that I remember - So guess that's a pretty good indicator that not a good time to fly to Orlando.

I just left MCO today (8/13) at noon. We flew out thirty minutes before the rains hit. The airport was shutting down at 3:00pm and advising everyone to stay off of the roads. All of the theme parks were closed.

Most of the outgoing flights were completely booked and there were tons of people stranded at the airport! I'm happy to be home.
