Can we all just keep our arms down for ride photos?

At least at DLR your odds of getting another fastpass to try riding again are pretty good.

Okay, folks. I get the point. To each their own. Yes, having a picture of the experience is important to me. So sue me. Everyone has their "thing." Read the thread about the fireworks potentially being shut down. Now there's something that doesn't bother me. That doesn't mean I'm going to tell someone else to stop enjoying that part of their experience or that it doesn't matter.

I do not intend to ride ToT for a fourth time on this trip, so I will go home with no photo of that ride. I'll deal with it. And for the record it never occurred to me to ask for front row. We've always gone by luck of the draw. I didn't even know that was an option, nor would it occur to me to ask. I'm sure the last thing the CMs need is everyone making special seating requests.

Anyway, you all keep enjoying and prioritizing your things and my family and I will do the same. Just remember that the next time you have something to complain about -- to someone else, your "thing" doesn't matter.

I don't think anyone is saying it's wrong for you to value the photos. At least I'm not. If you saw the piles of photos and scrapbooks around here you would know that. I'm just saying that if it is important, just ask for the front row.

Tower of Terror is the hardest to get a photo without arms in the air. Front row solves it. Control what you can control.

Agree with mom2rtk. I don't think we were trying to say your complaint wasn't valid. Just that you were preaching to the wrong choir because at least with my family we are guilty of doing it. I doubt anyone does it to purposely block someone but they probably want a good picture too. Everyone has must dos at Disneyland and if for you thats getting good ride pictures then request the front row. Even if my family are the only ones in the picture they are almost never good ones lol

Im sure there are others here who would agree with you.

Personally, ride photos are the least of my priorities. I can't remember the last time I actually bought one. Whether there's hands in my face or not, they just aren't that good.

I always request the last row of any roller coaster I go on at any park at any time. It's the best seat and I can always wait a couple extra trains for a better experience.

As far as the thread topic goes, I mean, are you serious???

I understand your frustrations. It's a little annoying when people have their arms all the way up instead of only half way up. We were lucky to get luck of the draw on ToT when it was my cousin and her DDs first time riding with me. We got a great picture in the front. They didn't like the ride at all, so that was the only chance we had of getting a great picture to capture the memory. If we would have been in the back, her daughter more than likely would have been blocked out by someone raising their arms. Splash Mountain is another ride that is easy to get blocked out. Just let it roll off and try not to dwell on it. At least you still have the memories of being on the ride! :)

Sorry but this has me LOL. It's like the thread where someone didn't like people reciting the dialog from Haunted Mansion.
Clearly, ask (and wait) for front row for rides where pic is important to you. Even when there is no pic--ask for front row.
We wait for front in Small World, Indy, Pirates and especially front/top row of Soarin'. I hate the feet dangling in my view. Others don't care but I do.
Also important in Radiator Racers--that photo always sucks if you're in the back.

People are just having FUN. You can't seriously ask them to keep their arms down, or not talk, or laugh or enjoy themselves.

This comes off as your family's preference matters more than anyone else's. Why would anyone be considerate of you when you clearly have no consideration for them? Just because it didn't occur to you to ask for the front doesn't mean the solution is the one that you want. As PP said, you don't get to control others.

Wait, it never occurred to ask for something as common as sitting in the front row, but it made more sense to ask every single other person in Disneyland to accommodate your ride portrait?

I don't know if someone already said this but you can ask one of the ride operators/cast members to take a picture before you even start. That way you get that group photo, on the ride, no hands!!!

Reciting the dialog from Haunted Mansion. Really? Omg I would love that. How cool. I would pay extra for everybody in the doom buggys to do that! What an atmosphere. I can't believe somebody complained. That would make my day!

The more I think about this, ToT is probably the worst ride to expect to get a decent ride photo for. People are usually just plain flipping out on that one, or at least that was my experience, lol.

Anyone can request where they sit on any ride. We always request the first row on Star Tours, Space Mountain and Soaring. And always request the back row on Thunder Mountain and California Screaming. 9 times out of 10 the cast member accommodates our request after a short wait.

In one of my first 5k races I spotted a camera person so I threw my hands up in the I DID IT style. I thought surely I looked very, very not lame. When I saw the photo later, I realized that my cool move totally ruined a photo of the couple behind me. I had no clue. I'm sure they were as pumped about it as I was.

Screaming actually reduces that feeling. It's breathing out, and I've found (as have others) that a long exhale actually reduces that feeling.

Ooooh. Good tip! I am totally going to have to try this. I told my daughter I would suck it up and go on the scary rides with her! (Yeah, right, like I wouldn't be screaming anyway!). :scared1:

As someone who has their hands up in a lot of photos I would gladly keep them down if someone mentioned they'd like to not be blocked in their photo. :earboy2:

Absolutely -- annd it doesn't appear to be too much of an inconvenience to the CMs as long as you're prepared to wait until the next ride or maybe even 2. I think they're pretty used to it.
