Can we all just keep our arms down for ride photos?

We have not had one single ride photo that wasn't ruined by someone raising their arms and holding their hands in a way that obscures our faces. On ToT yesterday we were in the back row all three times and could not buy even one photo because people lift their arms. One guy and his son together managed to obscure all four of our behind them them. I almost bought THAT photo because it was so perfectly arranged -- they couldn't have been more accurate if they tried.

Can we all just be a little more considerate. You're not the only one in the photo.

Now back to your regularly scheduled park fun!

You can tell when people know. They are posing. It's not a shocked look on their faces. You can tell the difference between people who are genuinely startled and those who keep their hands up and stare into the camera.

A lot of people don't have any idea where ride photos are even taken.

Why not ask for a front row seat next time?

exactly my thought. Most people either dont care about ride photos or dont know the location of the cameras. Dont forget many many people only go to Disney once or only do rides once. They dont know "ride etiquette"

if ride photos are THAT important to you, make sure you are in the front row or in a seat where you are in full view of the camera

But you'll never get enough participation to matter just by posting here.

Far better to control what you can control. Ask for a front seat next time.

Yea that wont go to well with my daughter she does it all the time. its how she shows shes happy and is enjoying the ride. im sure the people in front of you are trying to take a good pic to. Just ask for a front seat much easier.

Yea I was gonna say you're gonna have a tough row to hoe there. People screaming and raising their arms to get that scary/fun stomach drop feeling has been a part of roller coasters since there WERE roller coasters. Get a front seat, or take a pic by the ride or at the entrance or something.

I concur with the thought that you should ask for a front row seat if you really want a good ride photo.

Hahaha! Yeah, #sorrynotsorry, but I only go to Disney every 7 years or so. I don't know where all the cameras are, and honestly I'm too busy enjoying myself, along with everyone else around me, to think about a $15+ photo. Enjoy the moment, those are the real memories!

I've certainly blocked faces and had my own face blocked. I'm certainly not going to stop putting my hands up since I go on rides for the experience more than the photo (although I've certainly tried to do various poses for fun, but those rarely involve my hands going up as that's something I do just to enjoy myself). I certainly don't think it inconsiderate of anyone to put their hands up on a ride with a photo, though.

You know what's really annoying? When it's a perfectly good photo except the wind has pushed my bangs back, my face is stretched by g-forces, and I look like I'm screaming. Oh, wait...I'm on a roller coaster. No, really. It drives me nuts that I always look like poop in ride pictures. But, it's how it goes. It's all in good fun. Sometimes you'll get a great photo, but most of the time, you won't.

I think one good solution is to ask for front row like others have said. Another solution is to make sure your party fills the car/vehicle/whatever. Then you have no one to blame but your own family and friends. We've gotten some okay pictures this way. They still aren't great (see my plight above), but at least we're all in it together.

I can do you one better. I've been on RSR twice and had my view blocked for the entire length of the ride both times. I still enjoyed the ride, but it was very irritating not being able to see well, and I was nearly hit in the face by an elbow more than once. The worst part is the videos they got were incredibly low quality and probably deleted or never watched again.

I don't know why, but I'm still continually surprised by the lack of consideration people have for others. I can understand filming the reaction of your group during rides and shows, but there's no reason to film the ride or show itself. You can find way better video online when you get home. Put down the devices and just enjoy the experience.

i get blocked in photos half the time, either by raised arms or just tall people in front of me. it's the curse of being a short girl; i've just come to expect it. yeah, it's a bummer, but i don't let it ruin my visit....just means i have to ride again to try for a better picture next time!
as long as no one is obnoxiously taking (flash) photos or video, i don't care.

Woops! I'm an arms up kind of guy - I like to feel my stomach lurch and drop when on a ride and that feeling is reduced if my arms are down / holding on. But, it's food for thought and something I'll try to keep in mind when I'm in the front row from now on.

Screaming actually reduces that feeling. It's breathing out, and I've found (as have others) that a long exhale actually reduces that feeling.
