The title says it all.. I'm sure this has been asked and answered, so thanks for taking the time!
We are staying at POP with MYW if that helps..

If I am correct, because we added it to our ressie last year, you need to add the DDP at least 2 weeks before arrival, you cannot add it once you arrive in WDW. I believe that holds true for 2008, but I am not 100% sure.

I could have heard her wrong, but when we just booked for our last trip, I asked if I could hold off on the meal plan for now and add it later. I am pretty sure she said we couldn't add it once we got there, that we could call and add it 72 hours in advance.

When you make your ADR's they want to know if you are on the DDP. And you should in my opinion have ADR's made before you go.

for things to go smoothly, make a decision ASAP, for all the reasons posted and more, ADR's, depending on how you booked this can be difficult, maybe not even possible, not everyone seems to know how to add it after the reservation has been made or last minute.
We had a friend loose out on a cruise due to snow and they booked a disney trip last minute, got on the plan but not for the entire stay so they had to split it becuase of the time frame etc
happy vacationing

Hi,
We just went through this in Nov. We had a "bonus trip" last min., and did not book DDP prior to arrival. You CANNOT add it once you arrive. We even spoke to management, but no go. Sorry...

I'm also pretty sure that you can't book it, but need it as part of your "package" when you book your trip. For example, I just got a great resort rate through a pin code. With all the $ I saved, I wanted to add the DDP. I was told I could not add it now or when I arrived because it was not available to me due to the room rate discount I received and therefore not avail to me as a package.

You do not have to add DPP when you book your res. However, the minimum is 3 days/72 hours prior. And since it is a WDTC feature, if you add it that late to your arrival you will need to pay for it at that time also. (Not at check-in.)
I think some TA's have a policy that goes beyond the 3 days Disney needs. They may need extra time to go through their system too.
DVC bookings can pay their DDP at check in. I am pretty sure it has to be set up beforehand too. That is the only exception. Can't say for certain as I have not stayed with DVC points.

It also could be that a guest is switching their res from a Room Only to a WDTC package by adding the DDP. That possibly can open up other issues regarding discount, availability, etc.

to add ddp if booked througth CRO it`s 3 days prior to checkin.

If staying dvc on points 5 days before check in (but you have to pay at front desk when you arrive)

When I called last year, I was told that you have to call at least 3 days before the start of your trip to add the dining plan.

We have all our ADR's made already, so that is not an issue. If we are booking through AAA, can I call Disney directly and add the dining later? I guess I can ask my TA tomorrow...
The only reason I am wanting to add dining closer to our trip, is that I will have additional $$ coming in AFTER the 45 day deadline for the payment for the rest of the trip.
Thanks for the responses!!!!!:)

Hi, I am also trying to add ddp / tickets to my already discounted AAA room for my upcoming trip, which is within 3 weeks! (yikes!) I was told today from AAA that they are "pretty sure" we have to book the dining at least 6 days prior to my trip. Hope that helps. I will call back tomorrow to talk to the travel agent who originally helped me - as today I got a couple agents who were helpful but weren't 100% sure of their answers.

If you're talking about the 40% off code you might want to call back and talk to someone again. I booked this past week with it and I was able to book the package. The discount was just applied to our room rate and we paid regular price for the MYW ticket and DDP.

It maybe a TA would require 6 days. They probably have to add in their processing time. Through Disney it is 3 days/72 hours prior.

AAA would have to call to make any changes to your res. They own the res, even if you have paid for it.
All you could do is call and make ADRs, etc. As long as it was not a part of your AAA room/MYW res.

Since you booked through AAA, they essentially "own" your reservation and you'll have to go through them to make all changes to it.

Hope you have a great trip! :wizard:
