Can Wdtc Make Me Cancel A Ressie?

I don't think that Corndog is entirely wrong.

I know there are legitimate reasons a person would make a double booking, just like there are legitimate reasons for cancelling at the last minute.

Anyone can be unsure of dates, number of people, which place to stay, however I feel they should make every effort to solidify their plans and cancel the unwanted ressies as soon as possible.

I do have a problem with people making multiple ressies and holding on to them until the last possible minute.

I'd hate to think that someone couldn't get the dates or resort they wanted because I was holding a room "just in case".

I am not insinuating that anyone on this thread is guilty of the above, just wanted to add my two cents.

for Nicki and others - please don't take this personally, but not all of us who book reservations make multiple sets of them. I would certainly hope that would be the exception, not the rule. I can understand the necessity on rare occasion, but is rude to do it as a habit and drives up costs all around.

Next time you get a rude C/M ask to speak to someone in Guest Services or a Manager. If you do not want to do it at that time why not call back later or contact wdw.guest.communications@disney.com. Just remember that we all are human and have bad moments - that does not excuse what was said or how and I trust you will receive better service when you call again.

I should have called back and talked to the supervisor on Sunday. I was just so shocked by the person attitude that I didn't feel up to it.
However, I did just send an e-mail to guestrelations. I have calmed down now.

Also I have talked to other CM's since Sunday and they have been extremely cheerful and helpful.

This is the first time I have had an overlapping reservation. When our travel plans are complete I will cancel.

Thanks for the input.

Why would you ask if you didn't think this was a problem?

People usually know what's right & what's not.

Does this mean you have a deposit on more than 1 ressie?

I would venture to say that WDWTC can make you cancel a ressie that you are not planning on actually using.

IMHO, I don't think this is a cool thing to do.

And I've learned from these boards, that the more people try to "out maneuver" the less "magic" they actually have at WDW.

Just my 2¢. Good Luck.

I would have to say it is extremely rude, inconsiderate, and selfish to hold concurrent reservations when you have no intention of using both rooms.

And please don't retort: "Well everybody does it". You know what follows that.

Very disappointed,

I must say I'm in total agreement here...... the more I read these boards the more I feel as if everyone has totally forgoten to care about the rest of the world. I was not going to post this response initialy but as I will explain below I have come to feel that it really does deserve a response.

Holding two reservations at the same time for more than a day is not contingency planning its greed and lazyness. The only time I ever hold anything is while I am still booking other portions of my trip and then I only hold it for a few HOURS till everything is booked.

Let me make this kind of behavior more plain for those of you who think this is 'ok'. so I am taking the family to vist the (great)grandparents at the end of March and taking them to WDW for the first time the first week in April and the only flight I could get back home when we were leaving was at 7am!!! so not only do we not get to do anything our last day but I have to drag a 3yo out of bed at 5am before putting her on a plane for several hours.

Now today I am thinking " wonder if there is any chance of getting a later flight" so I go look and discover open seats on LOTs of later flights that day, that were not open a month ago??? So how did that happen...... a lot of people must have finally canceled flight reservations that they had been holding for WEEKS!!!

However it is now too late for me to use these open seats as it is inside 30days and the fares are higher now

So to all of you who think this is OK I would like to thank you for encouraging the sort of behavior that will deprive my daughter of an extra day on her first trip to WDW and the sleep she could have used to be able to make it through the trip home.

While I don't quite think this is a "moral issue" as others in previous posts and threads have implied, I do have a problem with holding multiple ressies up to the last minute. I can understand holding two for perhaps a day or so (if you need to double check details with travel members/family), but holding them for weeks or months is unacceptable while trying to decide what room you want or can afford (at least in my opinion)

In my circumstances if rooms become available at the last cancellation point it is impossible for me to book a vacation. It would be unlikely to get a flight or hire someone to look after pets if rooms are freed at the 5 day cancellation point. This also shows a false occupancy rate...meaning we are less likely to get favorable rates if Disney thinks all their rooms are near occupancy.

I wonder if this practice would still continue if Disney required an earlier cancellation policy and non-refundable deposit on each reservation?

I plan my vacations six months in advance, I know before I make those reservations what my travel budget is. I plan according to that budget, I think it is inconsiderate to make multiple ressies.

If everybody did this what would happen? For one thing say good bye to early booking discounts. Most people have to plan ahead for trips.

I do think that WDTC is cracking down on multiple reservations - and rightfully so. I had a reservation thru WDTC and booked another for the same time when I found one for considerably less. The CM, very eloquently, told me they really shouldn't allow for 2 at the same time. I told her I could understand that and asked if I could cancel mine at the time that I received my new confirmation in the mail. I just wanted to make sure that my new ressie was correct before cancelling the old one. She said yes but once again told me that Disney does not want double bookings any longer. The day I received my new ressie I cancelled the old one. If I was told no I must cancel one ressie I would have been okay with that too. I really don't think they should allow for double booking. It just doesn't seem right to me.

And welcome to the new members.:)

Do you people really think that Disney is so stupid as to believe that all the rooms are booked when there are double bookings involved? I mean seriously, you don't think that they know how many people have multiple ressies, and that they don't have historical data to give them a very good idea of how many of those rooms will finally end up occupied? I think you are underestimating the Disney business machine.

On more voice from the peanut gellery (whatever that means).

I must side with those who don't agree with double booking.

No I don't think disney is so stupid to believe none of those ressie's are double booked but on many threads I hear lots of people complaining about costs and cutbacks.

Maybe if a few more people thought of the impact of their actions instead of the slight benifit they alone achieve I think alot of things would go smoother and cheaper.Remember someone was geting paid to take those ressie's and now WDW is not renting that room.

If you must make two or more ressies, just make sure you release ones not needed as soon as possible.
If you don't it might impact someone elses opportunity to enjoy the magic we all love so much.

I know from experienc that people who double book things can make it harder on others.

I for one would like to think that my vactaion plans are not causing problems for someone else. So only one ressie for me.

I heartily agree.

I realize Disney has knowledge of the double bookings and they forecast occupancy, however it still doesn't change the fact that rooms will still be unavailable while they are being falsely held.

Someone may call for a room at a particular hotel and date and find they can't get it because they are all booked up. So they make other arrangements or change their trip plans entirely. Only to find out at short notice that the room was available after someone let the ressie go for another hotel instead. Now it is too late to get the room they originally wanted. (And yes I know people do cancel for legitimate reasons)

Exactly

Even though WDW knows people are double booking, how do they know which room people are going to take and which rooms are they going to let go.
I think people can get enough information here and from previous experience to really know where they want to stay.
I have not seen all of the resorts, but I feel like have been there by seeing pictures and from other people's experiences posted here. Cinnamon
