So on our trip in March it will be my family who is made up of me, my hubby and my 2 boys. We are staying at AKL and we will have the deluxe dining plan. Then we also have my MIL who will be staying at Pop and who will also have the deluxe dining plan. I am planning on linking our MDE accounts so I can make all our ADRs and FPs together. Anyways my question is this when we eat at the TS restaurants can they do 2 separate checks, so my family will be on 1 check for our dining plan and then we can charge our gratuities back to our room and then my MIL on a separate check so they can charge her DP and then she can charge her gratuities back to her room?

Yes, that should not be an issue at all.

Yes. Just let your server know who will be on each check and at the end of the meal you will receive two checks.

We dined at every TS restaurant with my sister's family, party of 8 total (2 families of 4). We always requested separate checks, since we were on separate DDPs. However, make sure you check your receipts, after each meal. One of the restaurants charged my family's DDP twice and nothing to my sister's family's DDP. It happened to be a signature restaurant, so instead of my sister's family and my family having the same amount of credits left (which we should have after every TS meal), my family had 8 less than hers! I didn't realize this until a couple of days after we ate at the signature restaurant. What we did was have my sister's family's DDP pay for the next two TS meals, so that we evened out.

When you did the separate checks, did they still charge an automatic gratuity for being a group of 6+? We are going with one other family, but on separate plans as well. Trying to figure out if they'll automatically add it or not

Yes, they did automatically add the gratuity. It was great not to have to figure out how much to tip, and you could always add more for exceptional service.

Yes. If you are a party of 6 or more, it doesn't matter how the bills are split, the automatic gratuity is added to each bill.
