Can this be right?

We're having a private party at the Grand Floridian in October. Several of our guests are staying at POFQ and I wanted to arrange a transfer for them to the party at GF.

Our Disney Event Planner gave me an estimate using a Mears Shuttle Bus with a one-way transfer price of $140.00 for 7 people.

This seems really high to me.

Any thoughts on this, or suggestions for a cheaper transfer option?

Thanks

Oh..and I do know that they could use the Disney busses for free, but I'm really only looking for a transfer that would get them directly from one resort to the other.

You could put them in two cabs for $40, perhaps a bit less.

I'm guessing that FL Tours, Tiffany or one of the other town car services would provide van service for seven people and charge less than $100, including tip, for a one-way transfer. They don't post a rate for such a trip, but it certainly would be no more than an airport transfer, which is only $75-$80 one way.

That sounds awfully high! I would call FL towncare or Tiffany Towncar. I'm paying $35 to transfer from disney to universal which is much farther. Of course there are 5 of us and it's only 1 way but still, you can definitely get that for less.

Thanks everyone!

I thought that seemed high. I think I'll call a few different companies before I go ahead with adding the Mears transport to our contract.

I hate that, because it would have been so much easier to just do everything for the party thru Disney, but for the difference in price it just seems crazy!

Given you can get from POFQ to GF via the back way near the Wilderness Lodge/Campground pretty quickly, I'd have to guess that a few cabs could do this trip for less than $15 a cab. I'd call a few of the local cab companies and see if they could do this for you for a fixed price.

We took a cab from POFQ to the GF for dinner in April this year. Myself and two dd's and it was $15.00 plus tip.

I got a quote from Happy Limo. For the one-way transfer in a Lincoln Stretch Limo would be $100.00.

Less expensive than the Mears shuttle bus, AND, nicer transportation. No where near as cheap as those cab prices ya'll posted though!

My only concern with going that route is that I need something I can arrange and pay for in advance. I need our guests to be at the Grand Floridian by a certain time, and since WE are paying for their transportation there, I don't know how that would work with just calling a cab.

I know I won't have time to call one for them, and I wouldn't be able to meet the cab to pay once they arrive either.:confused3
