Can this be done?

We REALLY love the plaza and their menu would be perfect for our welcome lunch. Currently we have Narcoossee's booked for this event and I asked our planner if we could use the Plaza's menu and let people order off it and have them cook it at Narcoossee's. I was told no.

So now I am wondering, is it possible to just make a reservation at the Plaza for 35 people and give everyone menus (without prices) and let them order whatever they want? I asked about booking the restaurant for a private event and my planner told me no. But could I just make a reservation for all of us and make special menu's without pricing?

We booked our Welcome Dinner at 1900 Park Fare for 26 guests and we ended up just making 2 large reservations online. I think you can book reservations online for up to 16 guests per reservation.

After we booked our reservations, I called 1900 & asked to speak to a manager and I let them know we were planning to have our Welcome Dinner there and he happily merged our 2 reservations and made a note of our event. It turned out perfectly. We were seated at 3 large tables.

The only thing is, in order to guarantee that we would all be seated in the same area, we had to book an early ADR. We booked for 5:00pm. He said anytime after 5 would make it very difficult to seat us all together.

Hope this helps!:goodvibes

Will everyone in your party have park tickets?

Could you just choose your favorite menu items from the menu and have it served buffet style at Narcoosees? I know a lot of the menu items are sandwiches, so the catering team can approximate the recipes and serve them on platters for your guests to choose from.

What she said! The Plaza (which I too adore) has one of the most pedestrian menus of any Disney restaurant. I mean, really, Disney catering can't make burgers and salads and club sandwiches...?

I know! That is how I feel too! At first I wanted the Chip and Dale menu but she told me that I cannot have the made to order burgers because it is not an outdoor menu. My husband said, "can't they just pull up a grill outside and cook some burgers?". I am not fond of burgers sitting in water, so we scrapped that idea.

Then I asked for the Plaza menu and was told they could not do that. I don't know if it is because I want it cooked to order? I don't know why that would be a problem, I mean, Narcoossee's IS a restaurant so they SHOULD have a kitchen!:rolleyes1

I just don' know why I cannot get the menu choices that I want. I am getting really frustrated! I have only been dealing with my planners assistant, so maybe I need to ask the actual planner. Maybe the assistant is not running these things by her?

I'm having my reception at Ohana and I called the manager directly to book a party of up to 30. She had no problem with doing that. I called before the 180 days too to make sure nothing was already booked. Maybe you can call the Plaza directly.

When you rent a restaurant, your food is made by the Disney catering team in their kitchens, not the restaurant's, and then transported to the restaurant. So your burgers would be made somewhere in the bowels of the Grand Floridian and not on the grill at Narcoossee's. Have you considered switching venues? Maybe if you picked an indoor/outdoor space like the Whitehall Room, they could grill on the patio? Anything to avoid burger water... :scared1:

But definitely wait to speak to your actual planner before you give up all hope. :thumbsup2

Oh, there will be NO burger water. Where is that barfing smiley????

I thought about changing but Whitehall is booked. I originally had the Summerhouse and was STOKED about it. But they called and told me I can no longer have it there because of the constuction. I am really bummed.

I emailed my planner this morning, so hopefully they will give me something to work with. I feel like I have been told "no" constantly lately. But then they offer no other suggestions! It is like all the creativity has been sucked out of them lately!

Everyone will have tickets to MNSSHP that we are headed to afterwards. I wonder if they would allow us to come in at 3:00 for a lunch and then by the time we are done everyone can just head on their way.

How do you find the manager of a specific restaurant?

Hmmm... what about Sago Cay at the marina? That's outside! You might even ask about Conch Cay, on the other side of the marina. It may be just a made-up location for Memories events, but who knows... maybe they can book it for private events too.
