Can this be done?

We are wanting to reserve a grand villa at AKV for December 2010. This is a very special trip and we really want the one floor at Jambo house. Well, we don't own at AKV, we own at SSR which means that we have to wait until the 7 month mark and pray that we can get in.

Is it possible to find someone that does own at AKV to book for us since they can do it now, and then transfer the points over to them?

Yes, that technically could be done. The hardest part will be finding someone to make such a trade. I'd suggest you post it on the rent/trade boards asap.

Personally, I wouldn't trade my AKV points for SSR points as it is usually fairly easy to get into SSR if I'd want to. There's no advantage to making such a trade that I can see.

Definitely post your request on the Rent/Trade Board. Several have had similar requests in the past and I think there is also one posted there right now - even offering a cash or points incentive as a differential for any perceived inequity in the "value" of the points.

If someone wanted a treehouse reservation I think they would consider it. Otherwise both resorts are fairly easy to get into except for the categories without much availability (GV's, Concierge, Value, Treehouse).

Go ahead and make your reservation at SSR regardless of what else you decide. Then try to change over at 7 months and if not, wait list for what you want. That way you have up until 7 days out to get the AKV trip but at least have the 3 BR at SSR. You might want to consider a 2 BR plus studio at AKV instead at 7 months out and could still WL the GV if you wanted.

Good point. I forgot about the treehouses. The treehouses WOULD be a reason to trade AKV points for Saratoga points.
