It's against the rules to receive compensation for TRANSFERS, not rental of vacations. Technically he is asking for payment for a transfer of points into someone elses account.

Ahhh...and with a rental you are making the reservation for someone else with your own points and not transferring them anywhere?

I think I'm catching on...I need to do the research.


....and now upon further review, I see plenty of listings on the Rent/Trade board of members offering their points for transfer at a cost per point.

I know I must be missing something here but those listings don't seem to be any different from the eBay listing.

And those members haven't read the Public Offering Statement that is included with their DVC purchase. Members are not permitted to receive compensation for a points transfer to another member.

There was a good discussion a while back about why. Something to the effect that individually, the points don't have a value. But as a reservation, they do.

i dont see what illegal about this. it gets a little to confusing on the rent trade board and ebay looks like a nice clear way to deal with the situation.

he is making a transfer to someone elses account which is done a lot on the rent trade board.

and according to the questions on the bottom of the page he is also willing to rent the points
