Can the best computer people please stand up? (And answer a question)

OK, everyone complains that they have no eggs, or they can't see eggs etc. So can anyone figure out what is going on? We really need a computer literate Sherlock Holmes here! lol

Maybe they need to clear their browser cache before they show up? Some people's browsers may have cached the egg pictures, and so they're still showing up as eggs.

For those using Internet Explorer: click Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Files (under Temporary Internet Files - this won't harm anything - it will probably free up some space on your computer, too!)

If that doesn't work, try holding down the Ctrl key and pressing 'R' at the same time to force a reload of the page.

from a newbie and a thickie what are the eggs you are talking about and how do you get them?

I'm using AOL and can only see eggs there (even on new posts that were posted after the eggs hatched so they can't be cached.) However when I open the DIS through Internet Explorer, I see the hatchlings.

The moral of this story is... AOL is rubbish! If you've got it, try looking at the DIS through IE instead.

Browser Caching 101: The eggs unhatched had the same URL (the string that tells the browser where to get the image from) as the eggs after they were hatched. If the browser had to download every image, every time it was encountered, your browsing experience would be much slower. So instead, it keeps copies of a certain amount of downloaded data on your hard-drive. If the browser encounters an image on a web page that has a URL matching one already on your hard drive, it uses the one you already have, instead of downloading it again, saving that download time.

I currently have about 8 GB (!) of data that my browser has downloaded... some older than a month. Maybe it's time to clear my own browser cache.
