Can take a day off my AP resort reservation without losing the discount?

We were debating on adding an extra day to our AP discounted room at POP for Oct. The CM I was talking to said I could add the day now and take it off at a later date if we wanted to without losing the discount on the remainder of the stay. Is that correct? It is a room only ressie. I always thought the discount had to still be available for your new, shorter time frame if you wanted to drop a day. I added it based on what the CM said, but was hoping to confirm with my experts here

I’ve had luck doing so when the computer said no availability by calling but each time it required a wait and someone higher up in like Guest Services or something to approve it.

If you try to change online, it will only let you change if the new stay is available. As @gottalovepluto said, if you call, the CM will have to contact guest services. They used to drop days with no questions asked. But a few years ago, they got more strict to avoid single night rooms. I have done it in the past, but because we wanted to do a few nights split stay with another deluxe resort. I have read a few reports over the years from people who were told no. But those are pretty infrequent. So you’ll probably be able to drop a day, but there is a slight chance you won’t. Is the last night available as a single night? Maybe you could do 2 separate bookings, so if you decide to cancel that last night, you‘ll be able to just do it yourself. If you book the same room category, call & have it marked as continuing reservations & request to stay in the same room.
