I was told awhile ago one of the perks of staying on property was the fact that you were guaranteed entrance into the park no matter if they were turning non resort guest away. Is this still true or was I totally not understanding the person correctly. Or did they stop doing this. First time staying on property. All the times we went stayed off property came early and left late do to fear of not being allowed in the park or back in.

You are guaranteed entry into A park. It may not be the park you wanted to visit.

I think what he's referring to is when the parks are extremely crowded during holiday periods, such as Christmas week, etc. As capacity to the park nears, it goes into different shutdown phases regarding entrance to guests until the gates are closed. Another park may not be so crowded and there would be no problem.

I know on New Year's Eve, for example, it is recommended you pick the park you wish to stay at and remain there. If you leave you may not be able to get back in if the park has reached capacity.

I'm sure some readers could give you their experience with being able to return whether or not they are staying on property.

RIGHT!!! It all depends on which phase of closing but resort guests do have priority over non resort guests as do ap holders.

We have found that the water parks routinely close. If you are at wdw at a really busy time & are concerned about a park closing, use Disney transportation. The first thing to reach capacity at a park is its parking lot, but the Disney buses will keep running.
