can someone update me on what's required for DCL in terms of vaccination of 5-11 year olds?

It's perfectly possible the islands might decide that, now that it's clear that the vaccine doesn't stop people from spreading Covid.

The vaccine protects people from getting severe reactions to Covid, but that is not something that would have much of an effect on an island accepting day guests, since those guests are very unlikely to become suddenly seriously ill during the day visit & need to use the island's medical facilities.

There is more to it than just a day visit. If you remember early on people got sick while on board and ships needed a place to dock to allow the passenger to be moved to a hospital

Not us. Know too many healthy people having strokes and unexpectedly dying right now. If you do have underlying conditions, the question is harder to answer. But a healthy child who has already had a blood clot from the vaccine, that is a no brainer.
I have a underlying Condition. I had not problems getting vaccinated and boostered. Everyone is different. It was easy for me to get vaccinated

Yes, vaccines and boosters are plentiful. I can walk into Costco and get one and then continue on with my normal shopping. Everyone can get them, but the bigger question is should everyone get them. The OP is talking about her 7 year old grandson who developed a blood clot after having the first vaccine. It is pretty obvious that he isn’t a good candidate for a second vaccine.

Someone said if you have underlying conditions it’s harder to answer. Wasn’t saying anyone should get it.
Was sharing my experience. That everyone is different getting it.

yeah probably should wait to get second dose, family hopefully will talk with there doctor to determine if should or not 💯

My 7 year old grandson had covid about 2 months ago.
Then 2 weeks ago, he had the first vaccine, which resulted in a very worrisome side effect (blood clot).
So naturally my son is concerned about him getting the second vaccine.
Are 7 year olds required to have both vaccines? Even if they've had covid?

We're booked on the Wish in July.
Wow 😯 I’m glad your grandson is okay. That is definitely worrisome. Hopefully the US and cruise industry start taking natural immunity into consideration. The children I know have done very well with Covid and vaccines may not really be necessary for them. Only time will tell, but the childrens vaccine requirements being removed is the only way our children will be on another cruise before adulthood. Good luck to your family whatever you decide.
