I recall that when I went to Orlando 2 years ago in August...it was mostly sunny, humid and then there are flash thundershowers for 30 minutes....then everything goes back to normal.

I will be in Orlando on Saturday for a week....and have been checking out the weather on a regular basis over the last couple of weeks on weather.com and ALL it says is that there are thunderstorms in Orlando.

For those that have been there recently....how has the weather been?

Please tell me that it has not been CONTINUALLY raining 24/7 over the last couple of weeks. I'm praying that all I can expect is sun, then short rain or thunderstorms....then sun again.

It it typical summer weather. It is nice most of the day until late afternoon when the thunderstorms roll in. It rains for awhile and the sun comes back out.

www.wftv.com is a great local weather station.

It's hot. Very hot. There are thunderstorms many afternoons. They can hit one area of Disneyworld and not touch where you are. Or you can get a cloudburst right on you. Thunderstorms are a different forecast than "Rain".

Just returned Monday night- It is warm, 95 or so every day and it does rain some-one day it rained about 5pm for about an hour and then another day it rained about 1pm for about an hour-no big deal, it's Florida in the summer- Take your ponchos and you'll be fine, We carried ours in our bag and in the car, the one time we left them it POURED!!! oh well, have fun and don't let the rain scare you off.

To quote Matthew Broderick in 'Biloxi Blues',

"it's hot-Africa hot"

It will rain every day, sometimes just for 15 minutes and in only one park, but it will rain. Sometimes, it's torrential downpours that beat upon your head relentlessly.

The sun will wear you down by 10:30 a.m., and you'll wonder which level of 'h-e-double toothpicks' you've stumbled on. If you are Irish like me, you'll develop a fondness for the aroma of Coppertone mixed with Burt's Bees Lip Balm, and will think, 'why isn't everyone wearing a hat?'

You'll fry while waiting in line, and then freeze when you sit down for meals. Water will be your new best friend, both for inside and outside your body.

And yet, all really all I have to say is, 'Bring it On!' We'll be there in 13 short days, and I wouldn't have things any other way! Insane weather in WDW is fine because it's in WDW!

I will pack my poncho, a mini-umbrella, my Brita water bottle with filters, and plenty of sunblock, and will be jumping up and down, totally embarrassing my 11 year old DD, because there is no better place to be!

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks for your rather ROFL input.....

Thanks all for you input.....I suspected the same thing....but all my in-laws see is a forecast for thunderstorms. Coming from a place that only rains a few months out of the year....Thunderstorms = ruined vacation.

I just came back 2 days ago......I go the end of July quite often...this time it was BRUTALLY BLISTERING HOT!!!!!! Really bad, not fit for Man, Beast or Mouse!

However its been extremely HOT all over. The rains weren't that bad this year..It RAINED & POURED BUCKETS for about 30 to 45 minutes for a few of the days we were there...always around 5:00 or 6:00 pm. We lucked out since we were back at the resort getting ready to go back to the parks at that time.

I just returned from a trip July 22 thru July 31. It never rained for the first 6 days of our trip. We were praying for rain because it was the hottest I ever remember. We had a sudden rain outburst Thursday which closed the pool at the Poly for an hour or so. then the same thing Friday and Saturday. But each morning we would wake up to beautiful sunshine and no clouds. Believe me when the rain comes in the afternoon its just the thing to cool things down and make the parks more bearable.
Enjoy the heat and remember to drink plenty of water... :sunny:

Right now in central Florida we're all watching the track of Tropical Depression 9, which could turn into Hurricane Irene :earseek: It's a long way away, but I think all Floridians keep an "eye" on these hurricanes after last season!

Everyday was thunderstorms listed in their forecast LOL, don't worry about it! At the most, unless it is a real storm front it will only last about an hour, if that!

During that time, you can STILL experience almost everything and to be honest its JUST AS FUN! The weather is hot and somewhat humid, but if you are from the east coast like I am the weather here is WORSE then Florida! Go figure!!!!
