Okay I am thinking we are going to make reservations here for our 10 year anniversary. We will not be on the dining plan. Do you have to order an entree to eat? I am looking at the menu on allears and it looks like I would like one of the flat breads? Is that enough to eat for dinner? I am just curious how it all works when you are not on the dining plan. THANKS!

Are you worried about it being enough food for dinner or the restaraunt giving you a hard time that all you are having is flat bread?

I think a little bit of both.... I don't want them to think I am being cheap but I also wanted to special order a cake for the evening. I also am not a huge eater. I am only about 120lbs. Just not sure about the experience there and what is expected. :)

We eat at California Grill on every trip. It is by far our favorite place to eat at WDW. My wife and I will order a flatbread to split and then our entrees and split a desert. We always pay out of pocket. There flat breads are fantastic, they change them with the seasons to use fresh and in season ingrediants. My favorit dish on the menu is Pork Tenderloin with creamy polenta. We will be dining there again in March. There sushi is also very good. I have had it on many occasions and never been disapointed.

No question that you can just order a flatbread (or a salad). There is no requirement on the amount or type of food that you wish to order.

Go and enjoy your anniversary!

Thanks! We are pretty excited about this trip! 10 year anniversary, Dream Cruise and then a return stay at Kidani! We are living it up so to speak on this trip! :)

One word to describe California Grill "AWESOME"!!! We loved it there. When we ate there it was a very relaxed atmosphere and it was a much needed change from the hustle and bustle of the other dining experiences. We ordered the flat bread between 3 adults and then all ordered entrees and dessert. I wouldn't worry too much about just ordering the flat bread, they are easy going and there to serve you. Over all we were there for almost 3 hours just relaxing, taking our time and enjoying the view. We will definately make this one of or MUST DO's on every trip. Enjoy and have a great trip.:thumbsup2

We are now thinking of staying at the contemporary! I think that will make California Grill even MORE special! Thanks everyone! ;)

This is the one and only restaurant that my 22 year old son requests every time we go!

Happy Anniversary and have a great trip! Good choice with California Grill. Bet you are looking forward to getting out of Buffalo as much as I am! :rotfl:

We ate there in June 09 and fell in love with the place...I think it was because my pork dish was out of this world!

We went back Nov 10 and it was terrible. The appies were great but the entrees were terrible. The filet was a horrible cut of meat and the chicken dish was dry and awful.

I would much rather go to Citrcios than Cali Grill

The last time I was there I ordered two starters and they were fine with it. I had them bring one as my main course as the rest of my party was having a main dish and I didn't want to just sit there while they ate. We also shared 2 desserts among 5 people and the waiter was fine with it. We were not on the dining plan. Enjoy!

We too love California Grill! We've been twice. The first time was phenomenal. The second wasn't as great of an experience, but we still enjoyed our meal very much.

I would never hesitate to order what you want at any restaurant. As many have already said, it's your meal. You are not there to please the server. They're there to make your experience enjoyable.

Now, as for the size of the flatbread - I personally don't think it would be quite enough for dinner. They aren't tiny, but they're not really entree size either. If you don't have a big appetite, or just don't eat much in a single sitting, you might be satisfied. But you won't be "full", I wouldn't think.

In any event, I think you'll really enjoy the view and atmosphere. The food is excellent, no matter what you order, and the service is great too. Have a great time!

If you like sushi, I personally think that most of their specialty rolls like the Spicy Kazan and the Bonsai are much more of an entree size than an appetizer which is what they are considered on the dining plan. We didn't have the flatbreads, but the couple next to us did, and I also think that those could easily work as an entree.
