Can someone recommend a quality photo printer?

Pigmented inks are archival. They are waterproof and smudge proof. The archival life is 100 years or 200 years in dark storage. Dye based inks on matte paper will last about 25-27 years. They are not waterproof.

For archival information I suggest www.wilhelm-research.com

Epson is the only company making printers that use all pigmented inks. I have several Epsons with the pigmented inks and love the photos that they print.

Well, here's my 2 cents worth...

I own the Canon CP330 photo printer. It uses dye-sub, not inkjet process. I've used it now for a year. I'm in the process of printing my WDW Christmas pictures now. I've printed approximately 80 of the 200+. I've had no problems with my printer. It prints photo lab quality. The machine operates by laying down layers of color and the final pass is a clear protective coating. It is dry when it is finished and can be put immediately into an album. The printer uses an ink cartridge and you can make 36 prints from 1 ink cartridge. Canon makes the combo pack and I've found it for about an average cost of .22 cents a copy on eBay.

Hope this helps.
