Can someone recommend a good book

On how to get the most out of your Mini DV camcorder? I would love to find a book that not only talks about using the different features on the camcorder, but also how to transfer to your computer, how to edit, how to add music, how to add stills, how to make the best presentation, the best way to burn a DVD, etc...
I know that the camcorder comes with an instruction manual, and that the CD burning program also comes with instructions, but I would love to have a more in-depth book as well. Something like a Dummy's guide to Mini DV's (I tried looking for that, but it doesn't seem to exist).
Any book suggestions would be very helpful.

I subscribed to the thread hoping that there would be a book suggested!

What I would suggest is do a quick search on Amazon.com - I am sure they have some books for that - I did a quick search and some did come up - But I have to get my daughter to school, so I didn't have time to really look at them and see if they were any good -

Hope that gives you a starting place!

yeah, that's my next step. I was hoping to find something here, though, for 2 reasons:
1) I'm lazy - searching Amazon, Books-a-million, or other book places takes work.
2) Personal recommendation helps a lot. I might find something that looks like a good book, but I'm not sure. It always helps when somebody tells you why they like a certain book, or don't like a certain book
3) I'm lazy - did I already mention that?

Not sure if they would have it, but check www.shortcourses.com.

Thanks Dan, there is some good stuff at that site, which I definately plan on taking more time to study. I still would like to find a book (non-computer type of thing) that might go into even more detail, but some of the stuff at that site will be reallyl helpful.

I was looking for a book like that a while back and didn't have much luck either. The problem is that the way you do many of the things you mention (camcorder features, how to transfer to your computer, how to edit, how to add music, how to add stills, how to make the best presentation, the best way to burn a DVD) will all depend on the type of camera you have, the type of computer you have and the video editing software you are using. Any book that is general enough to cover all possibilities could never be specific enough to be useful.

What is available though, are many, many books the just cover the video editing software you've chosen to use. The software book will often cover all of the above topics except for camcorder features (transfering, editing, music, stills, titles, special effcts, burning, etc.)

So maybe if you say, "Hey, I'm using Windows Movie Maker (or Pinnacle, or Vegas or Whatever). Can someone recommend a good book to explain how to get the most out of this software package". You might get better responses.

I'm using Vegas and there are so many books out there that I'm having a hard time deciding which one is right for me.

Hey, now that sounds like great advice!!!

OK, I purchased a JVC Mini DV camcorder (model GRD347us), and will be using Pinnacle software to do my editing.

If anybody has info on good books for either one of these offhand (before I have to --shudder-- WORK --shudder-- at finding them myself, I would greatly appreciate it! Or perhaps a book you wouldn't recommend could be just as helpful.
