The appeal of Twilight?????

I watched it last night. (My sister downloaded it, as I refuse to spend money on it lol)
And honestly, I wa 100% willing to give it a chance, I figured, if SOOO many people like it must have something that I'm not seeing.

So I sat through the entire movie, and did not ONCE feel any attachment to any of the characters. This coming from someone who gets REALLY involved in movies, and cries @ almost everything.
I just did NOT get the feeling that these characters could be real people. The way Bella talks, it's so unnatural and forced (I'm thinking Juno...only MORE unnatural--if that's possible) She was not very good at 'emoting' (moving your eyebrows around does not count as emoting).
I was confused for about 75% of the movie, if I didn't have my sister there I would still be clueless (why they played baseball in the thunderstorm? that his skin "glistens" in the sun, why that James fellow was after Bella??)
It didn't even seem like they were in love! They had zero chemistry.
(and the editing was really bad---but that's just me being picky lol)

I just DON'T get it.
And honest to God I am NOT just trying to bash Twilight fans at all, I mean, it's not something I'm into at all, to each thier own, I just cannot fathom the appeal of this movie??
So Twilight fans, I'm asking you to pleeease explain.
WHY are you so in love with Edward? What has this love story got that no other love story has?
I'm honestly curious. :hippie:

I don't get it either. I started reading the first book before it became popular, and I couldn't even get halfway through.

And the whole "Edward is the perfect man". He's dead. He bites people. He can read minds. He sparkles. He's like, 100 years old. Thats weird. And the fact that everybody is in love with a dead man, doesn't that make people necrophiliacs?

I don't want to bash twilight fans either, I just don't get it.

I think Twilight is something that really has to grow on you. Honestly I thought the movie was in no comparison to how good the book was. Like Caitlyn said some of the charcaters seemed to be quite plastic and not real. The chemistry between Bella & Edward is suppose to be a bit awkward because Edward is always on edge about going to far and not being able to control himself. The James charcater could have been much better in my opinion. He was quite flat and if you weren't familiar with the storyline from the book I can see how you would miss completely why he was after Bella. James is what is called a Tracker Vampire. He tracks the scent of humans and if he is attracted to that scent nothing will take him off that track. So when he saw Bella at the Forks Baseball Game he attracted her scent and then he was on to her. All in all the movie was o.k., but like I said it did not compare to the books at all.

The movie was horrible, but I still love it. Don't know why. It probably has to do with the fact that every single male character was GORGEOUSSS (minus Billy Black and Charlie. lol)
But you have to read the books to get the real feel of the story and the obsessions following it.
The movie basically skimmed over everything and didn't go in much detail. and I totally agree, Kristen Stewert didn't do a good job in the movie at all. I personally think she has hardly any talent. She's good at being scared, but that's it. She can't portray love or any happy emotion at all. Overall, her acting just really annoyed me.

I don't think they should have ever made Twilight into a film.
The book is fantastic and the film is nowhere near as good as the book. To really understand the appeal of Twilight i would reccommend reading the book.

And edwardisn't really dead as such, he is merely stuck between the two, i would say. When they became vampires they don't exactly die. And i think your looking wayyy too much into the people who like these books. imean...Necrophiliacs?

They play baseball in the the thunder because of the sound they make when they crash into each other and stuff...because they are so strong. James is a vampire. When James first went for Bella edward puts up a fight. Because James is a tracker he likes a challenge and when Edward puts up a fight for her he finds that a challenge. Again, you have to read the book to understand.

The book gives so much detail. And the reason we girls are in love with Edwared is because they way he is described in the book. Plus, because he is so dangerous and mysterious in the book he becomes a challenge and he pesents us with a challenge. plus, he is described as a 'God'.

PSH BILLY BLACK + CHARLIE SWAN = *swoooooooon* hahaha, jk.

Um, I have no idea why I love the movie so much. I just do. Something about it being so awkward and weird.

The reason I love the books is because I can totally relate to Bella. I mean, I've never been in love with a vampire or werewolf, but I've been where she is. It's easy for me to imagine the book because I use to spend my summers in that area of Washington for years.

My love for Edward stems from the fact that he isn't perfect. He's neurotic, stalkerish, dorky, and really self-conscious. I mean, Bella tries to portray him as this perfect being, but even from her point of view you can see the neuroses that Edward has. My favorite "book" out of the whole series is the partial draft of Midnight Sun because they emphasize the qualities about Edward that I love.

Edward isn't dead. He is (as well as all vampires, zombies, etc.) a part of the undead.

Now, you see, I read the first two books in August, shortly afte rthe 4th came out.
It isn't exactly... advanced writing. I like books with a good plot and storyline, and this dragged a bit.
I'm convinced Stephanie Meyer's favorite words are chagrin and marble, based on the amount she uses them.
I don't love the books, I don't hate them, but I don't like them either.

I liked the movie better than the books, even while LOLing at Kristen Stewart's attempts to act.

The chemistry is not supposed to be that bad.
Those are two are possibly at the top of my worst actors list.
They're up there with Miley Cyrus and Raven Symone.

i don't get it either.
i read the book and i couldn't even finish it.
it was terrible.
edward annoyed the CRAP outta me.

but, we all like different things.
heck, i'm obsessed with wwe.
people don't understand my obsessions either.
lol.

I got the book on Saturday and I read 200 pages that day. It's an amazing book, but a horrible movie.

I liked the movie :confused3

I guess when I sit down in movies.. I don't look for problems.. and if there are problems .. I guess I just don't care.lol It's a movie.. not a .. academy.. awards .. thing..

but if I was a critic.. i'll agree and say it was probably horrible lol

The chemistry defiently translated much better in the book than on the big screen.
I thought the movie was sub-par, and if you hadn't read the book, almost impossible to follow.
And the camera angles were annoying and made me dizzy.

Seriously, I found the book to be a cute and easy read. Not deserving of any literary awards or anything, but just a fun, light book.
And the movie didn't capture any of that, at all.

This is actually an opinion I can agree with :thumbsup2
I liked the movie was darker, though, I don't know why.
I did think it would be hard to follow, and I was :rotfl: with my friend whenever they did a super-close up zoom of faces.

Personally, I was waiting for Kristen to close her mouth for more than 2 second.

I love the book.
I refused to pay money for the movie. My friends said it was "eh :/" so im like, im not wasting my money.
So I watched it online. it was decent.

Kristen Stewart REALLY bothered me.

I guess that is part of my problem. If a movie is really stupid I hate it and start to criticize everything about it.

If an actor is terrible though, it makes it really hard to watch the movie.
