I will admit, I am NOT techinical at alll.

My ds13 is asking for a new nintendo as his broke; however, I'm wondering if the new portable wii would have more of a "wow" factor.

Unfortunately I don't know a thing about it. Is it just a portable game system? I think I read that the basic model is missing certain important items. I realize I would have to buy games for the wii as we have ninetendo games. Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance

Do you mean the Wii-U?

Also, Wii is a nintendo system. What Nintendo system do you have? 64? or something older?

There is no "portable" Wii. I think what you are referring to is the Wii U. This has a controller called a "Gamepad" that looks similar to portable gaming systems (like Gameboy or PSP).

With the basic set you get the Wii and the Gamepad. That allows for one person to play. You would need to buy addtional Wii Remotes (1 per player) and possibly Wii Nunchucks (1 per player). The Wii Remote is the basic controller. It points like a remote but has buttons that control the gameplay. The Nunchuck connects to the Remote via a longer cable and controls additional gameplay on certain games only (not all need the nunchuck). Player uses remote in one hand and nunchuck in the other.

While the Gamepad looks and functions much like other portable game systems, it is in fact NOT portable and must be used in conjunction with the Wii console. Rather than being portable, it is actually wireless meaning you can move around the room but cannot take it with you on the go.

So glad I asked here! LMAO. I thought the Wii-U was a portable game system:rotfl2:

He had a Ninetendo DS, but it broke so I was looking to replace it with another portable game system. Looks like it will be another DS for him

Get him the 3DS or the 3DS XL. Someone said they have the 3DS at Target for $129 which is a great price.
