I thought there was a 1-800 # for Disney Reservations??? I know you can go from there and speak to dining. I just need to know the 1-800 # for Disney. Thanks!

Call on a cell phone with free long distance.

If you don't have one, a friend of yours likely does.

I'll confess to using the "secret" numbers years ago, but between free weekends on my cell phone and unlimited long distance included on my house phone 24/7 I can't imagine needing 'em anymore.

it kills me that disney doesn't have an 800 number

all the major hotels have them, hilton, delta, double tree etc why doesn't disney?

Cause they've never had one and its never kept anyone away, so why start paying for one now? Besides between the internet and cell phones, having a 1-800 number is soo 1980's:rotfl:

Cause they don't need to. As long as the hotels and restaurants are getting booked up, it'd be foolish to throw away an enormous amount of money on toll-free lines. What advantage would they gain by having one?

The other companies have competition that offers 800 numbers, so they have to. Disney doesn't need a competitive advantage. If you want to stay or dine on property, you have to book through them. No one's going to decide not to stay at a Disney resort because they don't have an 800 number.

And before all the 'well they used to have one' no I dont EVER remember seeing toll free for WDW. Any toll free numbers were for things like travel agents and such. Some of those numbers would get leaked, people would over load the lines, WDW would kill those numbers and get another one.. Rinse repeat.

It kills me that people act like it costs $100 to call disney, especially today since IMO paying for long distance is almost a thing of the past. I would be very suprised to find someone that logs onto internet forums that doesnt have a cell with LD included, have cable phone that has it, or knows someone with LD included on something.

Since at least the mid 80's when I was a kid, there has been a sign on World Drive for those who exit reading "Disney Resorts - Rooms Available" and the phone number has always been the same....407-W-DISNEY...

I think another reason why Disney does not have an 800 number like many other major hotels is the reason people call. Other resorts may get calls to make reservations but fewer repeat calls. Just from discussions on the Dis look how many people call Disney every day to see if there has been a cancellation at Le Cellier or CRT for a certain day (and this is just one example). If Disney would have to pay for those calls it would run into a large expense for no return.

That sign is still there:rotfl2: It's to make sure "See ya real soon" is accurate.

Sure, this is exactly the reason, probably dating back to way back when. Toll free lines arent free to the person you were calling. Granted, I'm sure it's much less expensive now then it used to be, but still even a really small amount multiplied by millions of phone calls, would still add up to a pretty large amount.
