JetBlue's policy states you must contact them within 24 hours of your original flight and you can only fly on the flight prior to your original flight for free. Do you call them and wait for them to call you back or do you go to the airport and wait? :confused3 The flight prior to mine leaves 6 hours earlier. I really don't want to spend that much time at the airport.

You should really call Jet Blue and ask them.

For true standby, you can only travel on the flight prior to your original and there is no fee. If your original schedule is for a flight at 3pm on Tuesday, you can call at 3pm on Monday to tell them that you want to fly standby on the earlier flight. They might tell you right then and there "that flight looks overbooked so you shouldn't try it".

There is also "same day change" which has a $25 fee. You can call in the morning on your day of travel, and ask for a different flight than you originally booked. If there are seats open...as long as you don't try to change your cities, you've got the confirmed seat for $25 fee and don't have to "stand by".

Say you've decided to "stand by for free" on day of travel and you notice that there are 8 people ahead of you. If you ask the counter person how it looks for standby, she might say "we only have two open seats, it looks pretty grim for you". You could then call the 800 number and pay the $25 for a confirmed same-day change and grab those two seats (by paying for them instead of letting them go to standby passengers ahead of you).

Does this make sense???? :confused3

on jetblue most times they can take stand by's because they dont overbook there planes.
