So, I am trying to plan out my next years points and vacations. Our AP's expire in August. We won't take another trip until mid September and possibly not even until December. What is the time limit where you have to have purchased your passes to get the renewal price? When you purchase the renewal passes using the vouchers, do the vouchers start the next time you go to the park then or when you purchase them? So if our passes expire in August and we purchase the AP with the vouchers, but don't turn them in until December, is this when the new AP's start? I have tried to find the answers to my question to no avail, so figured this was a good place to ask. Thanks in advance.

You have 30 days from the expiration date to get the renewal price, and the clock starts ticking retroactively to your original first use or anniversary date. This didn't used to be true. It is the reason we now buy completely new vouchers every other year instead of doing the renewal. That being said, the time between August 31 and Dec. 1st is close enough, that I would probably just do the renewal anyway.

If you renew your current passes, the new one starts the very next day after these expire.

If you won't be going for 3 or 4 months (Dec), and plan to return to WDW the following year in Sept, Oct, Nov or Dec, you would be better off, money wise, by just getting NEW AP in Dec. You don't save all that much on a renewal with the DVC discount.

ANNUAL PASSPORT RATES WERE LAST INCREASED
January 2006
Prices including 6.5% tax

DVC Member 10+ DVC Member 3-9
Annual Pass $335.48 $295.01
A P Renewal $319.50 $283.29
Premium AP $440.91 $387.66
PAP Renewal $419.61 $372.75

So...if my current AP expires on Nov. 29 '06, I have until Dec 29 to renew it. And, if I wait to renew it until I get to WDW on Dec 7, then the new one will expire on Nov 29 '07? Will I have any problems renewing it in Dec as a DVC member? I'm assuming that I'll just have to show them my old pass and my DVC member card...right?

Correct. You shouldn't have any problem renewing it with your DVC member card. I like to go to guest relations at DTD. I like dealing with the CM face to face instead of through the glass. The first time I renewed my AP (regular, not DVC) I was a little nervous and even took a copy of the front sheet of my contract, but it was not a problem. The CM renewed my card with the new DVC renewal price. I believe that a new regular AP saves $100 and a renewed card saves $75, it's just that there is also a savings when renewing.
