We are really interested in staying here. We are not DVC members. Is it hard to get rooms here in June? We REALLY don't want to rent a car! Is there any kind of Transportation that can get us to and from the airport? Also...What Airport should we fly into? It's just 2 of us. What is there to do? Is there a place we could purchase groceries nearby? What about the Rooms? Do you suggest an Ocean Inn or a One Bedroom Studio? Any suggestions or Information would really help us out.

As I recall, Vero is not completely sold out, and even if it was, there is still usually cash availability for rooms - call and ask!

In my opinion, you really need a car at Vero. First of all, it's not at all close to a major airport; A lot of people fly in and out of Orlando, but Tampa Bay might be another option (and about the same distance away).

Besides the airport consideration, the Vero resort isn't really near anything. While our family usually finds plenty of activities to do right at the resort, if you like to eat out or want to do some of the other popular activities in the area, you'll need a car.

As far as one BR vs. inn room - we like the kitchen, so the view is not our primary consideration. Very few of the 1 or 2 BR units have a direct ocean view - most have either no ocean view or only a partial view. Having said that, we've never been in a 1 or 2 BR unit with a view we didn't enjoy. If a view is really, really important, then the only way to be sure of getting a good ocean view is with an ocean view inn room.

You also should check into flights to Melbourne airport. It is a great deal closer to Vero Beach than Orlando or Tampa airports.

West Palm Beach is also an airport that is closer than Tampa. They usually have cheaper rates there than into Melbourne. Also, more competitive car rental rates.

Melbourne is the closest but sometimes flights are difficult to come by. West Palm Beach is slightly closer than Orlando and more direct. You would have to arrange for a car service to take you from the airport and then would have to rely on cabs to get around the Vero area. I haven't priced the car services but since it is over an hour drive from MCO or WPB I think it would be a pretty hefty fare. MCO and WPB are roughly 2 hours. Tampa would be about 4 hours (West Coast to East Coast and down.) There is no grocery within walking distance of the resort.

If you mean a studio or an Inn room, they are very similar in set-up with the Oceanview Inn room guaranteeing the ocean view. A one-bedroom would have the full kitchen set-up, jacuzzi, and much more room.

I'd agree with others on renting a car. While the gift shop on site does sell food it is limited and the closest grocery store was several miles away. But none the less there are tons of activities to keep you occupied at the resort. My family enjoyed it this past November.

There actually is a small grocery store right across the street on the north side of VB. It is next to the pizza place on beach side of A1A . You can get there by turning right when you go out the front door to the street and take the sidewalk to the right. Or, go to the public beach next to the north of the resort and up the steps adn through the parking lot. They carry basic grocery and snack items, bakery items, and hot items for carry out. They also have a decent wine selection. It is used mainly by locals and I don't think that people at VB have noticed it. Carrot cake by the slice is among the best we have had
